Hey Everyone, Im new to the board and to PDR. I took a training course, spent a decent chunk of chain on tools and accessories. Ive been practicing on my own since the course. For some strange reason my work is not as good as it was during the course. I also attempted a dent outdoors on an infinity FX rear passenger door. I couldnt see my light for the life of me. I got so frustrated, I packed my gear and headed out. I dont know why I had such a hard time seeing the light outdoors. I have a large 2 bulb light on casters. I think im going to opt for a portable one that is smaller and uses a suction cup. I can see my current light being a pain. Im so frustrate…

I've been thinking about getting into the market of vehicle wrapping so I decided to test my skills by starting on my own car. The car is a 2006 Laser Blue Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharger. The wrap is black with a silver metalic pinstripe. The entire install took me about 12 hours total , 6 hours in 2 days. I'm extremly pleased with the results. I didn't mess up one piece nor did I create any creases or trap any dirt (much better than I can say about my tinting, ). I used Oracal 651 gloss black 24". Everything is in one piece except the roof is in 2 pieces spliced right up the middle, you can't even tell unless your right up on it rubbing your finger across it. Honest…

I've been tinting for 10+ years but this is the first time I've ever put a wrap on a vehicle. We are doing it for our local MB dealer. I have no idea what to charge other than an hourly rate. I don't what to sell myself short as I have 14 hours in to this. I also don't want to give the work away and undercut the local wrap market and damage the pricing they're trying to uphold. Just like all the entry level shops are doing with the tint prices. $79 for the back half; what a joke. Take a look at the pic. The wrap also covers the whole rear bumper and the lower half of the rear hatch. If you've got some $$ idea's for me please PM as I don't expect people to talk about pri…

What size color printer should I get
by Guest zx1400- 1 reply
- 1.3k views
I have just decided to do vehicle wraps but I am not sure which size printer I should go with. I would like to get a 64" printer but I really don't have much space, it would be really tight in my office and of course my budget is another issue . I do have some experience using a plotter, Flexi starter and Lxi programs. I hear that you can do wraps with a 48" printer but if you want a clean and perfect job 64" is the way to go!

I know NoDents.com has an online "magazine" but is there a real PDR magazine available to the industry or even general public? I just did a search and nothing came up so I figure of all the people who know more than me, someone has to know where to find a magazine if available. jamesweyand[a]hotmail

Thinking about getting wrap certified from the cowboy...anyone done it, good, bad, ugly, mostly the truth though, we are a small shop, and money is always going somewhere other that my pockets so it is a large commitment to consider for us...seems a little overrated, but most stuff in the industry are overblown in the popular years, we really do okay with printed wraps, signage, and etc. Just greedy for more....

On my way home from work, saw an x cab pickup full wrap with advertising for their business. The wrap job looked good from what I could see. But the wrap material had the appearance of a $99 paint job you can spot a mile away. Do all vehicle wraps have the aapearance of a $99 paint job ?

I'm an idiot when it comes to illustrator, let me put that out there right up front. How in the world do you import a fill into the vehicle outline so that the fill is only in the outline of the vehicle template/ Doe that make sence? If you can explain in so a second grader an understand then I may get it.

Looking for motorcycle outlines/templates
by Guest aftershock911- 1 reply

I am tired of airbrushing bikes and have decided to just wrap them . Us riders are too damn picky. Wraps will allow the customer to "proof" the art before its ever printed and then again before the install. My problem is I cant seem to find motorcycle outline/templates. If anyone knows where I may Purchase these please let me know. Thanks

Wanting to learn PDR
by Guest Universal- 1 reply
- 2.5k views
I have my own business doing something non related to PDR, but I have had the opportunity to watch the industry grow from the early 90's . I kinda have basic knowledge of how it works , but I cant find anyone who is willing to train me other than the 1-4 week training courses which I dont have that much time to devote. I want to do this as a supplemental business. I have some basic tools and I seem to create distortion in the metal rather than remove the dents. Would the videos help?

after seeing what wraps can do, I want to wrap my car in another color versus repainting it. one site that really introduced to me this is www.foilacar.com. I have clear bra experience so im sure this cant be that much different... of course I have a few questions.... 1) I want flat colors, metallic colors, candy colors, carbon fiber, and mirror finish. I only have a plotter so id like to avoid having to print on top of the vinyl. which suppliers carry these finishes? 2) I plan to do it by hand but are there patterns / software that will cut the film within milimeters of accuracy? is it better to use a 'pattern' or should I do it by hand? thanks!

A friend that came to my window tinting school a couple years ago wanted to learn some wrap so he and his wife came to visit and wrapped my van for me. This is the 3rd wrap on the van not counting the original cut vinyl. All over the top of the last!!!! I just didn’t like the last one! The pictures I have are before we put our name on the windows. Just plain simple text using brushed aluminum on the dark glass. Stan BEFORE DURING AFTER
