I start flight school on Sunday. Powertints is gonna be a pilot!!! I am very excited, I have wanted to do this since I was a kid. It is a lot more $$$$ than I thought though, about $7500 after all is said and done. This will be for my VFR rating (restricts flying to certain visibility conditions). Anyway, just had to gloat about it to somebody.

I have been tinting partime for a few years now. I have, with time gotten a lot better at it . Practice does pay off...My question is , if there is anyone in the NY area that I can see that can show me hands on how to 1-piece in dry/powder rear windows. I have done a few cars in a wet 1-piece, but there are others that give me problems. I really would like to perfect this method and would appreciate any help in that area...

What do you all do when the side mirror is too close to the window like on the 91 Lumina I did today? and What do you do when the tops of the roll ups have the extreme beveled edge that you just can't get a clean cut on? Example like the 91 Lumina I did today. I just left the the edges on the tops all jagged today cause I was sick of the car and I never want to do another one again. Edited for fowl language

Bullet Holes in single pane glass 1 2
by Guest Rama- 16 replies
- 6.1k views
Recently bid a job on some old single pane glass, very large windows. There were a few bullet holes in some of them. Used to tell people there was a danger the glass could crack due to the stress of the hole, but have never in 10 years had one break, so was slacking and didn't bother to mention it. Well, tinted it on a Thursday, by Monday, the glass had cracked starting around the bullet hole. They are fine with it, are replacing the glass and I'll be retinting it next week. Problem is, I should have mentioned their was a possibility it could break, and if it did, I was not going to take responsibility, and they may want to replace it before I tinted it, in the off c…

new tint law in texas...taking effect in september 1 2
by Guest thetintshop- 17 replies
- 8.7k views
our good ol POS senator ogden's new proposal has passed. but, it was amended from what he had originally proposed, which was to have the current law of 35% FILM changed to 35% NET. which would have us putting on 50% tint on the doors and sides of even MPVs. the new law is 25% NET, which means we can still put 35% on the front doors. I called and talked to his office today and they will call me in the morning and give me the exact specifications of what the law is changing to. so I'll let ya'll know in the morning.

First off I would like to thank all of you who have contributed to the message board and site...it has been very helpful when I am lost. I, also, like that other posting am looking to begin window tinting as a business but I'm not looking at starting for awhile (atleast till I become good at it). I'm a firefighter here and I'm looking to start my own business because we only work 10 days a month. I did my first vehicle the other day (my girlfriends) and have questions regarding some problems that I ran into. Below are my specific questions. 1. On the roll down windows that I did there are very small air bubbles around the edges. I don't believe this is dirt because I wo…

Back glass 1 2 3
by Guest autoreflections- 20 replies

I've been in the tinting business for 12 years and have recently tried to do a backglass in one piece. It is less time consuming and we are the only ones in town to do it in one piece. However there has to be a simpler way of doing this in one piece with less trouble. Trouble meaning dust etc. Can someone please maybe send me some tips and /or advice. Thanks...

what do all you guys (and girls I see) , Use to absorb all the excess water that ends up at the bottom of the windows, Like on T-birds berettas and acoord 2 doors. Sometimes its best just to roll up some paper towels (I like my men , like I like paper towels, BRAWNY), and stuff em down at the bottom to hold the film againts the glass and deck.

Okay. Talk about stupid.... This picture is real -not doctored in anyway. This car was spotted in the parking lot of IHOP. The car is still running as can be witnessed by the exhaust. A woman is either asleep or otherwise out in the front seat passenger side. The driver finally came back after the police were there and was getting down at the back to cut the 'twine around the load. They told him to get back until it was taken off. The materials were loaded at Home Depot. Their store manager said they had the customer sign a waiver! Both back tires are trashed. The back shocks were driven up through the floorboard. In the back seat are 10 bags, 80 lbs. each of concrete. On…

Well, I did a really bad thing too, I think it would be referred to as a mortal sin. You see, I did something that at the time didn't seem bad at all, but after I was very kindly informed by another that I was out of line, I realized the error of my ways. I inadvertently pissed off the great and noble Tintdude and I figure in retrospect, probably quite a few members as well. You see, I followed the lead of a few other, (which I should have known better, I know!) and was a blatant post hizzo. And unfortunately I cannot undo my wrongs. So, what should I do, disappear forever, and hand in my "Tintdude Memebership", or slink off like a bad dog till the heat wears off and …

the ballot for "texomas best" is in the paper today, hopefully we will win "best auto glass tint" again this year, if you are voted in you can use the "texomas best 2003" insignia in your advertising, this paper circulates to 20 surrounding counties, so it speeks volumes if you win....we have won every year but one since 96, you get to go to a awards ceremony and you get a plack to put up in your business its pretty cool, plus its cool to know preople like what your doing.
