Sure would be nice if Toyota would put a do not tint or use razor blades on those dang windows!! Just learned the hard way as I got the first one of those in the shop today. SHEESH!!
I’ve been tinting for 38 plus years and never seen crap like this.

I compared it to F1 Stratos since I have a sample along with 3M Crystalline since I carry it...both of those are noticeably higher of coarse.  I would like to compare it against Madico Wincos and Dub IR.

TWO TIMES????? What? Was there a bad spot on the film or you passed out over the window and fell teeth first into the film? 😁
    Just poking at ya!😉

I’ve had this happen to me many times , even for the 2 front windows where the customer has it all off and claims it started peeling so I would redo it for free , when the customer obviously got a fix it ticket

Dirty shop! Windows laying flat! Film handling procedure.....even grinding/welding marks.

All will make for contamination or similar looking.

It definitely will not cure out. That is contamination behind the film that will remain there until you redo it.

A major demon in the trade, the more years you add onto the vehicle the harder the job can be to get a clean install. Especially on an older truck. I found after cleaning the back window to not spray it again with water/solution and just leave it dry, then only spray the film piece and then bring it in that way.

I use a Sharpie marker then cut the film on the peel board, take's a couple extra minutes but you will never have to replace the glass from cutting marks.

Been having trouble with the Olfa stainless blades scratching glass right out of the box as of late. Does anyone have a border tape solution or something like cut aid that is recommended for use on black border cuts? I would like to make things easier for installs without using a light when you don't have assistance as well. Any options would be great for place to buy a form of border cut tape or or something of the like. Thanks

also on a side note the blades seem to be duller than they used to be and chunk up much easier than in the past.  is anyone else having these issues with Standard Olfa Stainless Steel blades?

100% NOT what they used to be.  I was bitchin just the other day about how they are complete sh!t now.  Honestly they were the best in the late 90's to early 2000s and then someone did something to save money on materials and they have never been the same.

They are not experience enough. We do the most tinting on Tesla and it is a walk in the park for us. Ask other Tesla owner and group whom they use and recommend. Look at our instagram at autofilmspecialists

Yeah, no. How about you go to work for someone and actually learn how to tint cars. You would be out of business in a week.

Just because we make it look easy, doesn't mean it is.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you're putting the cart before the horse. You may want to have a LOT more experience before jumping into this business.

TNTLady reacted to Tint Slayer in Rear defroster grid destroyed by tint shop?
On the tint side of things, you can only completely remove portions of a defroster not loosen it, if it was 3 days old it was a manufacturers defect. Go to different dealer for the warranty work they're trying to blame the tint guy. This is not uncommon for this to be a manufacturers defect and 3 days in very likely is and your service manager is likely full of it. The grids are either loose or not, especially 3 days in..
I'll also add if the tint guy did do anything to cause a defect in the defroster it would more likely happen removing tint or happen on a much older car not a 3 day old car. You should thank the tint guy for pointing this issue out early for you. Don't listen to car dealers, go to another car dealer and just say it was loose so you're not giving them an out by saying it was at a tint place that didn't install tint on defective defroster grid.
If you're going to try make the tint guy pay for a glass he didn't touch (or in your words "..he didn't apply tint") and warned you it was defective, then i'd tell you to kiss my ass you're lucky i'm even replacing it let alone OEM. Youre lucky the tint guy doesn't just tell you to get lost.

TNTLady reacted to Roach in Anyone here in the tinting business
My first suggestion is to call one, or more, of the big name film companies and get some educational materials because just asking for that my guess is you don't really know much about how film works and you will end up with a lot of broken glass or unhappy customers for using something that isn't going to solve their problems.

There is much more to what causes solar heat that a clear film won't block nearly enough heat to make much of a difference.
