Well I have been doing this for about 15 yrs now. Everyone talks about these purple hearts. I got one for you. I had surgery on my thumb last thursday. The reason for the surgery was arthritis. I'll try to post pictures. 7 huge stitches the whole length of my thumb. The doctor had to remove hardened fluid off of my bone. The cause is from tinting windows for so long. Bad luck for me. I know people in here have been doing this longer than I have. What a @#$%.

Hello all. I'm new, but I found this forum and thought someone could give me some advice. Last year around September, I took my Pontiac Fiero to a local tinter. I prepaid (which was a mistake) and dropped off the car. I picked up the car after the tinter left his shop (he left the key under the mat) and it was getting dark, so it was hard to see the tint job until the next day. The rear window was horrible - the edges look like they were cut by a 3 year old. The passenger side window had 2 small bubbles near the bottom edge - I managed to push them out so they look a little better. I let it dry without driving for 4 days (although the tinter did not leave me with a…

Why can I buy 8 disposable Schick triple blade razors for under $10.00, but an 8 pack of blades (no handle!!) for my non-disposable razor is $20.99? Why is a 20 oz soda $1.49, while a 2 liter bottle is $.99? Why does a bottle of water cost more than a gallon of gas? Chaps my azz, I'll tell ya! And yet, people consider US thieves!!!

buddy got this via email..... not a bad plan About 2 years ago my wife and I were on a cruise through the western Mediterranean aboard a Princess liner. At dinner we noticed an elderly lady sitting alone along the rail of the grand stairway in the main dining room. I also noticed that all the staff, ships officers, waiters, busboys, etc., all seemed very familiar with this lady. I asked our waiter who the lady was, expecting to be told she owned the line, but he said he only knew that she had been on board for the last four cruises, back to back. As we left the dining room one evening I caught her eye and stopped to say hello. We chatted and I said, "I understand you…

I know that you have the BEST forum on the net, and it takes up all of your time just to administer, (Do you still have time to tint?) But I have a question. Have you thought about making your job more difficult by adding a forum in the "off topic" area for computer related subjects? (Yeah, Tint, I know, us non-subscribers .)

has anyone heard or seen or used this stuff yet? I head they are comming out with a Earthtone color for the V-40. Since the Harmony has a very blueish color I hear that Vista just came out with V-40E which has a more Earthtone color and more asteticlly pleasing. Got any info?

Here is a dentist office me and my Fiancee tinted. It was SunGard solar 15 and the windows came out near perfect because we were able to tint on the day they were closed. Also got two cars and a Paint Protection Install! Also for you commercial tinters I got a "foggy" look on one of the panes that was gone by noon but what causes that?

what do you guys recomend for tint cutting software? everywhere I go they want $2500 for the program and about $150 a month to use it. Then, I found a place locally that sells it for $500 for the program and $7 per downloaded templet and they cap you off at $150, so you will never spend more than $150 a month using it. This obviously sounds like a great deal to me because I am new and probably wouldn't be doing that much business to begin with. Especially since Im still slow and would take me the better half of the day to do one car depending on the difficulty (well I don't know if it would if I had the tint pre-cut already.) But, my delima is, this sounds like too much …

I just tinted a side window on a truck and the gasket is rubbing against the tint causing the gasket to fold and making the window hard to roll down. I made sure the tint was underneath the gasket. Maybe I dont have the tint far enough down or is the tint to thick. I was thinking of using a tint that doesn't have a metal layer because its a little thinner. Does anyone think that maybe the gasket is no good? The passenger side is fine and I used the same tint for that window. Im a newbie , so any advice woould be appreciated.

Any Ga tinters get a spurt of re-tint?
by Guest Key West- 9 replies

We have been MAD Crazy with strip and tint since the new Ga law went into effect. I live 4 houses from the tennessee/georgia state line, and we get alot of tennesseans who work in Ga also. (new law applies to ANYONE regardless of state of registration) When the new Ga law went into effect, Catoosa and Walker Counties went KA-CHING!! And cops went berserk writing citations. And wouldn't you know it, even under threat of a fine, people have been saying "AWW, 'cmon and help me out here" and quibbling over price. I just wanted to know if any more of you all experienced this cash-cow?

Certified Flat Glass Training 1 2 3 4
by Guest LindsayTint- 31 replies

So has everyone here attended a Flat Glass Certificate training course or is it something you learn thru on the job training? The reason I ask is that I am a pretty smart common sense type of guy who likes to educate myself. Like I have mentioned in prior posts, I have experience with Auto tinting and flat glass tinting application and do it with ease. I can honestly say I have educated myself on the basics when it comes to proper film to glass compatability but am woried about maybe making a mistake someday and apply the wrong type of tint to a residential window and having the customer call me back telling me thier $5,000 worth of windows are all blown....I know that…

I've been tinting my friends and family cars now for a bout 2-3 years and was thinking of doing it as a side job for the weekends (moible) to start off with. I'm confident with the sides of cars no probs, and I'm just about mastering the shrinking skill on the rear windows, my main problem is the dot matrix. on uk cars its only a narrow band all round so its not like what you…

I am looking to open an automotive tint shop in Houston, TX and need a little advice. If the first one is successful, I?ll probably look to open a few more shops in Houston, Dallas or Phoenix. My concerns are: 1) Is the auto window tinting business a good one to be in right now? Do tint shops do well? Is market growing? What kind of profit margins can I expect? 2) Will the car manufacturers get more into tinting? 3) Is it easy to find good people for the installs? What are the challenges and pitfalls around the installs? 4) Who are the good film suppliers? I have researched SunTek, CP Films, Johnson, Sun Guard and Solar Gard, but would like to know your experience w…
