Insulated Glass.... peelboard?
by Guest SSC- 3 replies
I was driving along one afternoon and saw what looked like two storm doors sitting against some guy's garage with the word "Free" taped on them. So I got home, grabbed my husband and the truck and returned to retrieve them. ...only to discover that they weren't storm doors. They were two huge pieces, say, 3' x 7' or so, larger than a door... and they're thick, insulated glass. double-pane with, like, 3/4" between the panes. It looks as if they were installed someplace and cut out, because the black rubbery stuff around them has a bit of a raggedy edge. and they're HEAVY. easily 150lbs each, maybe more. These appear to be too large/heavy to make a peelboard out of. Th…

Glass cleaning
by Guest Quake120- 4 replies

What do you guys use to clean glass with BEFORE you tint it and to make sure that all of the particles of dirt are gone? I have recently been using the soapy tint solution along with a new single-edged razor blade. It works very well for taking off stubborn dirt and such, but it takes forever to do a larger window. Any tips?

I got an expensive tint job done on my car a week ago and I have a couple a really small bubbles in the windows. My cars an Acura TL and the tint is F1 Pinnacle. I was told that this is a thick tint and takes awhile to cure. I've parked it in the hot California sun for a week now and some of the bubbles went away, but there are some really small ones left. Should I continue to park it in the sun or take it back? My old tint job had no bubbles (different car) and took longer then 2.5 hours.

As the topic header says....I've just been offered a 3M FX auto film which is metalised I believe and quite inexpensive which is unheard of with 3M in the past. Anyone know anything about it? My distributor is a bit light on the ground about details or specs. Way under the carbon NR film price that's for sure. It has a lifetime warranty so it must be good. (Is something wrong with the Devil today? ) Dev

Help just got my car Tinted.. 1 2 3
by Guest TintsCrown- 25 replies

I just picked up my car from the shop and when I got home I noticed the rear right-side windsheild looks like its been scratched with a blade. It's sord of hard to explain it goes from the top of the glass to the bottom. There are multiple white lines and some little white flakes? peeling off of the glass. Is this normal should I give it a day to see if it would come off. What exactly is this and what should I do. I have a life time warrantee so I assume they will fix it for no cost but is this normal or is it really scratches that must be fixed. I did get it done at a well known shop and it did empty my wallet. Sorry im new to the tint process can someone explain …

Difference between wax/polish?
by Guest youngbuisnessman- 9 replies
- 4.6k views
People keep asking me to wax their cars. What I use is not a wax at all. It's Ultra Coat tm finish Polish by P&S that works well as protection. I'm not clear on what wax really is...The only product that ive seen to have wax in it is turtle wax. Is wax a term used for past or liquid applied and removed to serve as a protection for the car or is it an actual substance? Someone plsease bring me into the clear.

was cleaning a window to day and was scraping behind the chairrail and my arm hit the chairrail and I droped the scraper and it hit my knee. Looked down and had a 3 inch wide 2 inch hole in my knee that was close to 3/4 an inch and all I saw was white. The damn thing didnt bleed for about 2 minutes then it was just minimal bleeding. Went to the hospital and got 6 stiches in my knee and a tetnis shot in the arm and man my arm is more sore then my knee. But man it looked nasty, it was the shape of an eye () the other way though. I was kneeling down and my knee was bent so there was tension on my skin and when it hit it sliced open quite easily. So know I have to hobble…

Rubber gaskets 1 2 3
by Guest windoworx- 25 replies
- 2.2k views
I have some windows in a hotel lobby that I am doing on Wednesday. 8 windows 47 x 81 with rubber gaskets. I haven't done much commercial, mostly residential. My game plan is to leave the top gasket in and remove the others and get a good cut on the film-handler. Any opinions on the technique?
