Tint Suggestions? 1 2

Hello all, I'm thinking about getting some tint applied to: 1) my car windows (an '02 MB C230K), and 2) my windows at home. For 1), I am thinking of having it professionally done. For 2), I am thinking of D.I.Y or having it professionally done. For 1), I have the following criteria in priority order: - reduce the heat level inside the car - does not interfere with visibility - does not interfere with any RF devices - does not fade over time - has a legal, reflective, silverish, mirror sheen* For 2), I have the following criteria in priority order: - reduce the heat level inside the room - offers privacy - does not fade over time - has a non-…

Gossamer/Clear Frost 1 2 3

My installer did this job today. I'd love to take the credit for the installation. But the company's manager and I came up with the idea. The window is 47" tall. Gossamer (the film he wanted on all the windows done there) only comes in a 36" roll. Did a clear frost border, then a clear frost design of the company logo, then gossamer over it. They were thrilled with the outcome and damn...I've got a great installer.

The percentage of people that rag about something is small. A simple pic that the customer DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT will change their tone in a hurry if they were trying to scam you.

Boyfriend blames the tinter 1 2 3

So, a customer of mine yesterday came back today showing me some mysterious damage to the hatch window of her CRX. She said her boyfriend borrowed the car to go play hockey, and when he brought the car back he said to her " did you even look at the tint when you picked up your car yesterday?" She said she told him of course, and then he took her outside to look at her car. She brought it back and I looked at it for her. "Something" had rubbed the window hard enough to put a large hole type tear in the lower hatch window. I assured her that it did not leave my shop that way, that's for dang sure. The funny thing is that a large hockey bag, with a hockey stick sticking…

It started yesterday. Girl calls for the price on a strip and retitn backglass on a 95 cutlass supreme 4dr. boss gives her the price. Fast forward to 8 a.m today, she calls back and wants to bring the car in and get the backglass tinted, all the sudden now it doesnt have tint on it. Boss tells her to bring it...they call back and ask if they can bring it at 9:30 and request that it be dont by 12 because "she has to go out of town and that she is not from here". WEEELLLl 10:30 rolls around and they finally show she has her own JOHNSON TINT and not even enough to do it they have already wasted half our morning with their BS. accessories dude from a large local dealership (acount of ours) just came in and said... him: "hey, how ya doin? my boss came up to me today and said that along with accessories, I'm going to be doing all the tinting now." "I was wondering if you could give me some pointers and how to do it and what tools to use?" me: "have you ever tinted before?" him: "nope never anything" me: " ....... so are they setting you up with a computer cut system?" him: "they have computer cutting systems that cut the tint for you?" me: "yep" him: "wow...I didn't know it was that easy" I'm not going to type out the entire conversation...but I think he thinks I'm a prick now.

I know this vehicle requires a couple extra relays and a bunch of resistors to make things work properly. This van has a single wire door lock system that needs resistors installed for lock and unlock, and, from the data I have now, needs a resistor installed on the starter wire also. I am trying to do an install estimate for a customer, but need an accurate wiring diagram for this vehicle before I can give an accurate estimate. I always like to have two sources of vehicle wiring diagrams for all of my installs, and I can only find one for this van. If anyone has one, it would be much appreciated.

I had one of my customers come in and ask me if he could borrow a philips screwdriver real quick so he can tighten something on his doorpanel. so I asked him if he needed a right or left handed screwdriver so hes say hold on let me check. he comes back in and says left hand is fine, so I give him a screwdriver and when hes done he brings it back in and say what makes this left handed . he called me back today laughing cause he just figured it out that I was joking with him. I guess he was asking some of his friends whats the difference between a left and right handed screw driver

THE TINTER IS LYING 1 2 3
by Mdog- 23 replies

I tinted a 99 ELDORADO yesterday, I had the thing done in about a hour. the rollups on this car are frameless, on frameless cars when I install the tint I push out on the glass and the glass pushes away from the gasket on the door panel leaving plenty of room to slide the tint in without taking a door panel off or even tucking the gaskey, its a wham bam thank ya mam window. This ladys car was falling apart in the back like it had been wrecked and put back together, she was even asking if we knew anybody that could fix her interior problems, they were mainly on the pass side. She calls back today saying that I removed the door panels and a bunch of crap like that I dont…

Need help tinting a bus 1 2
by Guest jlj3394- 15 replies
- 1.7k views
Hi, I'm looking to tint the following bus: www.ksubus.com We're on a budget, so it needs to be done rather inexpensively. We've found some tint on Ebay for cheap, but I'm worried that it will either look like crap or will bubble. With that many windows, going the professional route is not feasible so we'll have to do it ourselves. The windows are all the same size and are flat, so that should make things easier. Any advice?

School holidays are now on and you know what that means? Disastrous little ferrals running amok in our showrooms. I had a mother and 3 little she devils come in today to view tint for their home only to find these little blighters nearly ransacked the joint. One pulled a big framed film print that I had especially made up off the wall and smashed the corner of it when it hit the floor, another grabbed a piece of film off my application board and trashed that and the last one just ran ferral all over the shop. The mutha had no control at all and it was just like you see on the Bugs Bunny show and the devil going crazy. I couldn't wait to see the last of the little ba…

Tint on the NEWS 1 2
by Guest VOLTRON- 15 replies
- 1.5k views
there was a spot on the news last night and this morning about Window Tint and if it was a deal or a dud. They were saying how it could save you money on your utility bill and they showed a BTU meter measure artificial light on the untreated window at 300 and the tinted window at 55. THey said it was a deal and mentioned to check with your window warranty because the tint will void it out but the film can pick up where it drops off. Only thing that sucks is the company they showed installing the film has had lawsuits for using different film then what they paid for on other jobs. They dont have a good reputation. But it can only help the business. It should be good fo…
