'01-'02 Lincoln Town Car 1 2
by Guest busaj- 15 replies

Newbie here looking for some suggestions from those far more in the know that I. I'm planning on picking up an '01 or '02 Lincoln Town Car. I'm looking to probably set it up with a remote starter, and some sort of sound system upgrade. I need something that's got some bump to it, but I don't need anything crazy, I am afterall on a budget. What would be a good setup, and what would be a good price to budget for. Any help you guys can offer is appreciated! P.S. - I'm not object to doing a little dirty work, but I don't have the skills to really dig in and do the job right.

Santa Claus, like all pilots, gets regular visits from the Civil Aviation Authority. It was shortly before Christmas when the CAA examiner arrived. In preparation, Santa had the elves wash the sled and bathe all the reindeer. Santa got his logbook out and made sure all his paperwork was in order. The examiner walked slowly around the sled. He checked the reindeer harnesses, the landing skis, and Rudolph's nose. He painstakingly reviewed Santa's weight and balance calculations for the sled's enormous payload. Finally, they were ready for the checkride. Santa got in and fastened his seatbelt and shoulder harness and checked the compass. Then, the examiner hopped in ca…

Got a call the other day.. customer has a few windows in his home he would like tinted. The job is two hours away.. I'd really rather not do it, but if his neighbor gets his windows tinted, and his brother gets his tinted, and so forth... in the end, it's worth it. Do you have a limit on either the distance you will travel, or the size of the job?? Granted, you're not going to travel 5 hours, but I've always thought 2 hours give or take is about how far I want to go for any job.. but then again, I'm still just starting out and I'd h@te to turn away any work when this is, IMO, a big referal driven business. What to do... what to do... RoAcH

Q: What's the perfect Christmas gift for the person who has everything? A: A broad spectrum antibiotic. Q: Why do women love Santa Claus? A: He comes only once a year, but when he does, he fills their stockings! Q: Did you hear about the dyslexic devil worshipper that sold his soul to Santa? We were so poor when I was young that we couldn't afford ornaments for our Christmas tree. We had to sit around and wait for Grandpa to sneeze. Q: What do you call Santa's Helpers? Certificate for front roll ups re: percentage law

Today Guy wanting a toyota previa (yuk) tinted to 5% rear and legal on front (70%). He phoned the local VOSA ministry guy regarding what is within the law. He said to this guy to get me to provide him with a certificate stating I have tested his now tinted front windows and they are to 70% or above VLT. With a slight tint on the glass already as we all know its gonna bring it under 70%. I have no invested in (is it an investment!) a light meter. I use johnsons films for the 70%, I think llumar do a 78%. Dont want to rattle the local VOSA guy as I am the only tinter shop in a wide area.... Anyone else had to be 'certified'?? Do I go up a few percent and get …

When I leave work I divert work phone calls to the house I will be staying at that night. In this case my mums. So when I get there mums been having some vile phone calls from some low life scum........Phone rings, I answer, I wait for them to speak so I get the right person. H-hullo.umm..hhhullo. Well thats good enough for me to go off on a abusive rant and equally vile response, only to find out its a softly spoken customer I've done lots of work for in the past!! I will add he did understand my telephone manners but it was my flurry of vulgarity that will make him see me in a different light from now on.

on wednesday. my russian installer that's been working for me for alittle over 2 years gave his notice. he's quitting. nothing personal or shop-related. he's just going into the same line of business as his dad and brothers. man...it's going to suck not having him. a total natural. great tinter from the second he started. within a few months he could shrink anything. I've never had an installer like him. he's going to be missed. going back to a one-man show for a while.

I have been unable to find this document until searching in paper work this morning. It is what I used when each auto tint job was invoiced for payment. I simply stapled it to the invoice before handing the client a receipt. Hope this can be used by those of you who have been in need of something similar. Copy and paste what's contained between the lines into whatever document format you wish: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pertinent information concerning your window film installation All window films require a reasonable drying time of 30-60 days depending mostly on weather conditions, compass direction, type of film (construction) and the level of cond…

This morning I get to the shop and it was pretty cold.I have used baby shampoo back in the day and now use film on. A bottle of baby shampoo sits next to the bottles of film on and I noticed that the baby shampoo is as thick motor honey and the film on is still nice and thin. You guys think this makes a difference when applying film in cold wheather? I know I do.

03 grand am

Ok, I've got an 03 grand am, I have a design tech remote stater and bypass box for the thing. However, why is it that I need the bypass box and what color wires do I hook it up to? I feel slightly embarassed asking this question cause I'm an ASE L-1 tech and have been doign this all my life. But I cant get the damn thing to work! What wires do I measure the resistence off of and how? Also, I can get the keys copied at any walmart or hardware store and they start the thing fine, how is it that even though there's nothing special about the key it still needs the box? Also, if anyone has an 03 vintage grand am and knows what wire goes where I'd really appreciate the info!…

These cars have an additional 'starter/accessory' wire... although in most of the wiring info that's available, it lists 2 resistance values w/ relays to accomodate this type of arrangement. HOWEVER... no one really has info for the 2006.. it's only available for the 2005 model yr. the '06 is different. the values are different than the '05 AND they MUST be wired as additional ignitions BOTH relays. Hope this helps anyone that's encountered one of thest bastards... took me a whole day to do one. (still has resistor locks) and they want you to isolate the parking lights through a resistor but couldn't gte that to work, tried it with the measured resistance at the s…

so friday, after a long day, I come home to, "do you know what your son did at school today?" OH GOD!!! what..... in the middle of playtime he decided to perform his first mooning. do you know how hard it is to keep a straight face when your talking to a 5 year old about being appropriate, when youre having flashbacks of your skinny arse nearly falling all the way out a car window for mooning around a corner. (thank god for seatbelts that lock), or getting busted for peeing on a tree in kindergarten. on another note. you try and educate the kid and make sure he's watchin the right stuff on tv. I try to stay more on the pbs kids, discovery and disney kids kinda stuff…

Hi Fellow tinters out there, can anybody advise me on wether there are any other cutting machines out there apart from the film handler brand, I have had the same light weight cutter with two legs for 16 years and am toying with buying another cutter, I have never been a lover of the film handler, mainly the price tag buy also having to mount on a ladder is a bit of a pane, it takes up to much room as well if you are in a conmfind space. Well, they are if they're hooked up backwards We had a dealer bring us an escalade to remove the K 40 to be re-installed into their new prius (what???) The same guy that did the remove, did the install... I helped him mount hte front and rear sensors, ran the wires inside... he mounted the LED's and the knob etc.... I found him a source for 12V (at the cig. lighter DUH lol) after a day of him trying to troubleshoot this thing (well, it made noise before) he finally quit and went to work for a local LARGE chain company that offers the BEST of everyhting you BUY.... I finally went over to look at it. he hooked the friggin' thing up backwards. new knob 160.00 …

Bill Gates turned 50 on , 10/18. I should have been a nerd in high school. Love him or h@te him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this! To anyone with kids of any age, here's some advice. Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world. Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it! Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world wil…
