so.....what's everybody doing for christmas?
by Guest thetintshop- 9 replies

gonna spend it with family? spend it in the safety and security of your own home? going out of state to friends or family? nice to have all these choices and luxuries huh? while you guys are all spending your christmas getting drunk, laid, going to the movies, going to the mall, eating lots of good home cooked food, take a moment out of your day and remember our guys and gals over seas who don't have this luxury. here's a version of a night before christmas written by a marine. READ IT. and after you read it, if you don't have anything to say to support them, keep your mouth shut. unless you've served our country, be it during war time or not, as far as I'm concerned…

heres the situation--I have been tinting for this dealership in houston for a while---using there tint----just so happens today they ran out of tint--general manager does not want to stock tint anymore---so the question is --what should I charge for 2 door and 4 door cars in the houston market----I tinted for a shop years ago and the price was a flat fee of $-------dont really want to low ball--I concider my self a above average tinter and I dont tint any cars for less then $--- on the streets---any help or suggestions would be helpful thanks kramer3288 Edited for mentioning price. Due to fluctuation around the country and this being a public forum

The week of Thanksgiving my flat glass tinter broke a heirloom lamp in a ladies home which cost me $310 to replace, which was a good deal for me because it was worth alot more.My car tinter stripped a rear window on a 1990 el dorado and the defoggers came off. We had just tinted it a few weeks ago and the customer didnt like the film he chose so we were doing him a favor and redoing the back. Had to buy him a new window which is no longer available so I gave him $500 cash to find a used one in good condition.

A City cop was on his horse waiting to cross the street when a little girl on her new shiny bike stopped beside him. "Nice bike," the cop said "did Santa bring it to you?" "Yep," the little girl said, "he sure did!" The cop looked the bike over and handed the girl a $5 ticket for a safety violation. The cop said, "Next year tell Santa to put a reflector light on the back of it." The young girl looked up at the cop and said, "Nice horse you got there sir, did Santa bring it to you?" "Yes, he sure did," chuckled the cop. The little girl looked up at the cop and said, "Next year tell Santa the dick goes underneath the horse, not on top."

I can't believe how many customers come in saying,"I just put on the vent shades before I came in to get my windows tinted". What a pain in the rear to work on.

amazing! http://www.google.com/sms/howtouse.html#dd text: weather <a zip code or a place name> to 46645 (which is GOOGL) and it will reply back in about a minute with current weather and the forecast for the next few days. it will do driving directions, movie showtimes, plus anything you could put into the google search engine. I'm totally flabbergasted.

Cracked laminated side glass 1 2
by Guest thetintshop- 10 replies

what are these guys thinking putting this shiat in car doors? today, I had a guy come in with a new durango. done them before, no problems---yet. I crack (no pun intended) the windows a little and notice the passenger door glass is cracked across the top corner. with the window rolled up, you couldn't see it unless you were looking for it. I show the guy, and naturally, he says "what did you do?" I said, "uh, nothing. I haven't touched it yet." I then explain to him that his new car has laminated side glass, and is a major mistake by dodge. he says he can't believe it, and calls the dealership and talks to the salesman. the salesman says there's no way it could…

What a game to watch last night! It was exciting as hell to begin with... became boring after half-time, but I enjoyed watching the game (only 'cause I picked them in my confidence pool). If I wouldn't have picked the Seahawks to win, I probably would've had a heart attack due to high blood pressure before that game was over! The Pack sucks this year, so I am pulling for the Hawks with ya this year NT!

dust free room ?? 1 2
by Guest sa tinter- 16 replies
- 3.7k views
Bought a workshop a while ago - doing some paint protection and detailing in there. Been tinting some cars in there - and have some dust problems now and then. Have built a steel frame for a room ( 6m x6m ) and intend to seal it with pressed wood sheets silicone etc. Thinking of applying a positive pressure inside to keep the dust out. Any good ideas of how to create an ideal tinting room - meaning - setup, lighting etc. Really want to prepare the room for tinter to work in a (no excuse environment ). Please help with some tips from the veterans and those with some imagination!!

first of all I think seatbelt laws are stupid. personally I believe seatbelt laws only protect the dumb ones who dont wear em. like we dont need to clean the gene pool. cops in washington are now posing as bums. standing on the corners walking up to stopped cars at stop lights, holding will work for food signs. looking in car windows for ticketable offenses, no seatbelt, paraphanelia sitting on the seat, etc. etc. no privacy left in the world. hows a guy supposed to drive around with his pants down anymore?

I have been reading this board daily for about 2 yrs but dont post very much. I find it very informative and QUITE entertaining. I bought out a tinter that was reitiring almost 2 yrs ago and jumped into this head first. Comming from owning a pizza shop to doing this is ABSOLUTLEY the best thing in the world. I dont jam out 6 cars a day, 3 on a good one, some flat glass, some graphics....ya know enough to make a decent living. I have learned a TON from all you veteren's out there and I thank you for it.. My point to the topic is that saturday I had a customer that brought me her 99 forester in that I had just done 2 weeks earlier, I did 35% on front and 15% rear sec…

I am wanting to tint my cars, I have done my own in the past using various brands from wal mart or auto zone. The last one did turned purple in about a year and I would like to avoid something like that happening again. I may even do a few on the side for friends, There isnt a tint shop for 30 miles so I wont be stepping on any toes. The one time I let shop do mine was on our 02 supercrew and they did a crappy job . Broke the door panel screw under the armrest a few small creases etc.... What are your recommendations for a good 20% non reflective film that will last for years? I am looking to buy a 20" x 50 or 100' roll . What is a good reasonable source for tin…

As we all know we have to snap off our blades to prevent from scratching the glass. But there is a far more important reason to do so. When your blade gets dull you have to grip it tighter to get a cut. It may not be much tighter of a grip but a firmer grip none the less. by doing this your causing arthritis to set in sooner. You may not notice it at the time but you will in the long run, and a that point it will be to late. Any of you who have been tinting for over 7 yrs probably have arthritis and or carpal tunnel already. So you know what I am talking about I am sure you can probably feel it in your hands when a blade is dull I know I can . Moral of the story dont…

So as the year is comming to an end, I'm curious to know what has been the most popular solar control film for your company this year. What have you put up the most, what has made you the $? Standard silvers? Bronze? Duel reflective? High preformance... Up here, it has been duel reflective with Sunscape select sl-280. For the first year it has far out sold all silver installations combined, for commercial and residential. It has been such an easy film to sell, even with the price difference.
