Hi all, I have both these cars this week any tips on the door panels and back glass to make it alot smoother would be great. cheers
-
The doors are very similar to mk5 golf, only higher, still can do them with a 20" roll. identical rear quater glass, door trims come off easy with 4 torx screws, 10 minutes to take all panels off, rear screen easy too, looks hard, but when you lay the film on its not a problem.

Hi, I did Tinted one today. Removed the front door panels, all went good. Then at 7pm got a call from the customer. He said, when driving the car all the doors lock themself automaticaly. Also, when locking the doors with the remote, all doors lock except the driver door. Any ideas? Thank's.

MK4 golf 2 door rear side windows

Just bought one and went to tint the back two side windows and the headliner and pillars are tight and extend into the matrix. What do you guys do about this? I'm kind of glad I ran into it on my car before I did one for a customer. Short of pulling the panels and dropping the headliner, I don't know how to approach this one. I can't even slide the tint up into the matrix because the headliner is pressed on the glass so tight.

2012 VW Golf TSI

I got a brand new Golf to tint - I can get the rear passenger door trims off no worries but the rubber is jammed tight. I can get the rubber off the front 2 doors without taking the trims off and can do the rear window no worries. Has anyone ever had rubbers jammed on a Golf and any suggestions on getting it off? I've broken a few tools trying to pry it off - have tried soapy water my fingers are killing - as I try and pull it, the whole car lifts up its jammed that tight. I tinted the same model a week ago and got the rubbers out easy.. not sure why this car is giving me grief. Damn VWs.

For those that remove door trims on new Golfs and Polos for example, make sure you "reset" the plugs that go into the door otherwise if they are not separated to open up, they will not go back into the door properly and will not seat the door trim. Devil

Did a EOs this week . On the convertibles i usually open the top half and do the back window standing out side the car . I do this on all convertibles but i havent done a EOS . When i go to put the top down it says to take vehicle into service and the roof was dead. Luckily it was under warranty but VW said not to stop the roof half way because of some security feature. VW just had to reset some thing . So i dont advice opening the top on those .

Anyone done the 2011? The door panels appear to be different. The fronts seem as if they could pull back at the top, but the rears are tough. Anyone tried removing them?

They just rolled into the dealerships. How are they to tint? They looked like frameless rollups. Rear glass still looks like a competition piece.

Hi guys new here and have been searching for the best technique to heat shrink a beetle back window. From what i can tell the pull and heat seems to work the best. I have deffinitly taken some time to look for video's and have only found a few that actually show it being done but figured i would get some input on it since i have one coming into the shop on Monday. Thanks again.

Hey guys I have been tinting for a few months n ow and I have a 04 vw passat here. i read some other posts about it and the mentioned the felt trim around the windows being tight. I just pop the top of te door panel back and peeled the trim away to make it tighter and I plan on tucking the bottom edge behind the gasket . Do you all think that will work pretty well?

'New' T2 Camper Sliders
by Guest dagz- 4 replies

Who's done the new T2's? You know, the Brazilian ones. I did one the other day, took all the windows out but didn't take the sliders apart as they were bonded. Couldn't get a good job on them - I don't like gaps/film edges! If I do another one I definitely want to take the sliders apart. Anyone done this?

Just got done tinting my Jetta and It was the first tint job that I did. Anyone remove door panels because of the double gasket on this car? What are some things that you guys did to make the process go by quicker and easier? I spent like 2 hours on just the back glass, but just remember... I just started. I did it with 5% Lumar on the 4 Side windows and 15% on the back window so I can see backing up at night

2011 VW Jetta
by Guest tintpro2007- 7 replies

Did this 2011 VW Jetta this afternoon at a dealership, haven't done one of the 2011's till this one. It's not like the previous 2010 - below model years. As you can tell the quaters are different, as far as install goes, the gasket's don't come out on these, or if they do I couldn't figure out how to get them out, so I tucked them instead. Older model's I always took front 2 gasket's out, tucked rear rolldowns. The gasket's are pretty tight, and the glass pretty much stops right after the side channel, so I would suggest not pulling the pattern's long anywhere, and it works just fine. Back glass is easy, no more third brakelight at top to pull out to get behind, just one …

Despite the back window being easy, these doors give me such a freaking hard time, namely the front 2 doors. I just tinted a 2010 last night and tried pushing out on the glass to slide the tint tight against the back edge but no matter what I did, I still had a slight gap because the tint would not slide back far enough. Would taping the felts aid in sliding it in or what can I do on these to make it easier? No problems with the panels or gasket, just that darn backside edge.

not bad, pop off covers on door panel near top (very tight i had to use chizler instead of bone gasket jammer) . One torx screw, pull gasket out. Tape up felt and away you go. Driver and passenger door are a little tight on the side just push out on the glass while you drop the film in. Quater window is revised and now has a black painted gap no more gutting rubbers! Rear window was cake and you dont have to pop out the 3rd brake light anymore they moved it to the bottom of the deck.
