Looking to start cutting graphics
by Guest extreme_colors- 5 replies
This is my first post here but we have been installing 3M ppf for 6 years now and just recently started window tinting. Our main work is BMW and Mini and we have done pretty well. 90% of our tint work is MINI. We also install the bonnet/sport stripes and are looking to start making our own and offering them to the dealership. We have a plotter for cutting ppf and was wondering what kind of program we need for cutting stripes and other graphics. We currently use Xpel for our designs

Looking to Joint Venture with a Plotter Owner... 1 2 3 4
by Guest leadsupplier- 33 replies
Whats up everyone, I have a business idea to sell pre-cut tint locally. I am looking to minimize my risk by not purchasing a $3k plotter and $300 monthly for software. I also travel every week for work, so i cannot always be home to create and ship orders. So I am looking for someone on here with a Plotter and Software to team up with. I will pay for all tinting material + a value fee, or we can come up with some other terms. If you have a plotter, and want to make some extra cash by selling pre cut tint directly to me, then please PM me and we can talk in more detail.

O.K. I have a ford f-150 to tint front sides and banner, well the girl asked me to put some FX4 stickers on the side of the truck. I was wondering if anybody had any tips on putting them on as far as any kind of prep work or anything? Also what is the best way to get them lined up? I know there is probably not that much that goes into it but I just want to make sure that I get it right. Any advice would be much appreciated.

New to plotters and tint, long post
by Guest Smarsh7903- 2 replies

First off, let me give you all the details so you know where I have come from and where I am wanting to go. I have been running my fathers business for four years doing pinstripes for the big car dealers in town. Its ok work, I'm not suffering too bad money wise, but I know there is room to expand. The dealers all send their graphics request (for customers own private interests and also for logos such as the honda logos, which I put in the stripe) and also tint requests to some different businesses in town to do them for them. Before my father moved and I was still in highschool, he bought a plotter machine and I "figured out" how to use the dang thing. It was tough.…

Question about using plotter for film
by Guest shadytinting- 5 replies
- 3.2k views
I just have a simple question about my plotter, I bought it about a year ago and it is a Gerber fasttrack 40". For some reason when I put window film in it and go to plot something it don't always cut all the way through, and if you add pressure it cut to much and all hell breaks loose. Can somebody please help with these problems, I use the plotter for vinyl and have no problems at all. Now the backing is a plastic strip the is in a groove, I was thinking that is ther problem but I have no idea. thank you

I am looking to buy an entry level plotter to cut window film. Because of financial reasons i can't afford a really expensive plotter just yet. I just need something small like 20-24 inch plotter to cut side windows and cost around 500 dollars, no more than a thousand.. I am only going to be using this for 1-2 years before i upgrade to a better one. I am curious to hear what you guys think about uscutter mh series? It cost around 300 but im skeptical about the Quality of it. Also my last question is if uscutter plotter be able to work with softwares like computercut, tinttek etc.. If anyone has any suggestion, it will be appreciated. Thanks.

Some questions
by Guest dagz- 5 replies
I've never tried tint art before. I've got some questions... a) Where did you learn? Is everyone just self taught or what? b) So you stick a plotter cut graphic on the glass, then stick film over it? So you're layering it up? If so, doesn't the film rise up on edges of film beneath it, leaving air gaps along all the edges? Do you choose a very thin film to minimise this? c) Can you shrink the graphics? If so, how? Do you shrink them before you weed them? d) Do you make your own vector graphics? Cheers!!

did this RC Hydroplane this morning. nothing special, just some silver metallic flames. the interesting part was that while he was sitting up front waiting while i was installing them he noticed we tinted windows and used llumar film. so then an hour later he shows back up to the shop with his other RC hydro that he has...... i thought that was pretty cool he knows nothing about window film he just copied the real hydroplane.

FirstCut vs ComputerCut
by Guest Bad Boy Tinting- 4 replies
- 2.1k views
I have been a ComputerCut user for about five years. I really like the ComputerCut. However, at the beginning of the year they have gone up on the fee's and also, are obliging us to buy more of SolarGard film. I actually don't use a lot of the film, because of some foregoing problems that I have had with the film. Nevertheless, I still use the ComputerCut with LLumar and Suntek window film. So, I am now looking for a better or comparable cutting program. I am familiar with PercisonCut. It is a pretty decent system also. I just need to know more about the Madico FirstCut. So, if there is anyone who is a user of CompterCut and now FirstCut. I would love to hear yo…
