Hey, guys. I'm trying this out for the first time and having some difficulty. I ordered a dent puller off eBay and am using my wife's mini glue gun and the tabs that came with the dent puller. I'm applying the glue to the dent and then immediately sticking the tab on there(pressed hard) and let it sit for anywhere from 10-30 minutes. When I start using the dent puller, the first pull I do results in the tab popping off immediately and the glue still stuck to the paint. Absolutely nothing is achieved in the way of pulling out the dent. Is the problem the glue sticks I'm using or something wrong with the tabs?

I have a read a lot of posts on your forum, watched a ton of videos and am always up to learn something new so here I am... I decided to wrap my Yukon Denali with Avery Satin Black Vinyl and so far its been a blast! I have only been able to work on it about 4 hrs a week so I only have most of the drivers side done. Trial and error for sure buts its been enjoyable so far, had to buy the right tools after I destroyed $80 worth of vinyl... Oh well lesson learned! Ok so I went the whole nine since I want my wrap to look amazing and last a very long time. I removed everything including the body kit, handles, moldings etc etc. I am using 3M primer on all edges and curv…

I'm planning on doing a white wrap with a digital snow camo. Complete novice. So wrapping the whole car in either (3M 1080) matt or gloss white and then adding large shapes of black and grey on top of the white wrap. (i've attached a similar design on a bmw) My car is a 2005 5 door toyota rav4. So a relatively simple body with no complicated body panels so can you apply black / grey vinyls onto of an existing wrap? does Gloss or Matt matter? Also what would you recommend for a pre-wrap clean? I'm thinking 90% alcohol cleaner..

Well I purchased a car at a steal that had some dents. I was going to resell the car but it appears the little lady wants it so now I have to fix the mess. Pic of the damage originally. I started by using a suction cup and hand force from the back to push it out into the correct rough shape. Then I used compressed air and a heat gun to try to pop the low spots out but it appears to just be moving the metal around and its hit or miss if its getting better. Also the heat is causing the paint to bubble even with me moving quickly but a little more concentration and I am able to minimize the issue. Here is the pic after the work. I realized late…

Checking to see what material / product people are using to wrap door handles and mirror covers in matte black or gloss black. I had a guy wrapping for me but now getting a lot of comebacks because the film is lifting up and can tell where all the heat was applied and streched to fit is now funneling up.

I have a sanded down golf cart that needs to be wrapped. Should I do any prep work other than degreaser, alcohol, and primer to help the wrap stick to the plastic.

Hello everyone, I am seriously considering taking a 5-day car wrapping course, and getting 3M certification in the process. This—as many as you already know—would be a considerable investment since I have to travel to another city and get a hotel while I'm there, plus meals and all that. Anyway, my questions are: 1. How much can I expect to be paid if I get a job as an installer? 2. Is it better to freelance and go to different shops? 3. How much can I earn as a freelancer doing say 3 or 4 jobs a week. I live in Central Florida and there are lots of sign shops, and most offer car wraps among other services, so it seems the industry is doing well, e…

i am pretty new to this wrapping business and had a bad experience with vvivid. i am posting this so that hopefully some other people dont' make same mistake that i did. i bought vvivid black matte, gloss, carbon 4d whole rolls from the right hexis avery vvivid bottom pic is detail shot of the vvivid carbon in my opinion the outlook of vvivid carbon is the best. it looks 3d shape and has got glossy look and depth as well. gloss and matte are similar with others. the problem is the installation. the initial tack is way too harsh so that i can't make glass. i need one more person to hold the vinyl tight and slowly squeeze it down. otherwise bubbles will …

Hey there, I am a beginner at wrapping and decided to learn a bit on my 02 Honda. The paint on the hood and roof are badly faded and look terrible. So i decided to wrap them. I wrapped the hood and it went GREAT no issues despite some areas missing clear and tons of rock chips. So two weeks later I decided to tackle the roof. I lay the vinyl on and start adjusting it and notice a bunch of clear is sticking to the vinyl. Oh crap..... So i finish installing it despite the issues to get practice and an idea on how to wrap it anyway since I don't necessarily care about the paint then removed the vinyl. What I would like to know is if I could wet/sand the roof down and…

Is there a way to clean off finger nail and bike handle scuffs, off of matte black vinyl. i have some marks where i always grab for the door handle and also one area that a rubber bike handle scuffed the fender. i have tried normal cleaning and goo gone as this works for most areas, but they still are there. i had an auto body shop fix a fender where someone backed into me a year or so ago, and they replaced the fender, which i later re-wrapped, and a small area on the door which was scuffed from the other car, but had no dents, they seemed to remove pretty well. is there any tips or products on removing such areas.. tks jim

Hello folks i bought carbon, gloss, matte vvivid vinyls cuz the distributer said it is repositionable and is conjunction of 3m. Only difference is just different adhesive on the back So the vinyl arrived, i tried it out and it isnt repositionable. The initial tack was so aggressive that i spent long time to wrap a hood or roof. Nearly impossible to make glass. I tried cutting half of the liner and squeezee the vinyl without touching the surface but still it is very hard. Is there any better way to work it out? Give me too much stress and im losing my hair...lol cheers

Hello Tint Dude, I am fairly experienced in tint and 3M but I am a complete noob when it comes to vinyl wrap. I spent weeks watching YouTube and thought I had all of the knowledge I needed. Due to the fact that I was a noob, I bought some cheap Chinese no name wrap because I thought that using Avery and messing up would cost too much during my learning process. I Post heated panels areas where I thought I stretched a lot and left others as is. I found the wrap to have a decent amount of orange peel but it looked good other than that. Fast forward 3 weeks and I am seeing issues with random wrinkling. Please have a look at the photos of the defects: …

So against my will and better judgement i got roped into doing a boat.. I do it or I don't have a job kind of thing. I've done about 10 total replacement on cars. No "professional" training until November this year. I am confident that I can do it but it's by far a bigger project than I've done before. I've tried once already and got rained out and the boss pitched the film. We got the flat part at the back on with little problems ( he purged the water while I was still trying to cut the hole out...) The front where it curves how do I go about it? Where should I seam it and how should I seal it. Don't want it ripping off while they are moving and have to do it again. Any …

My own car is black, and I want to give it a tuxedo, like this: But I don't want a lighter gray like this, I want a darker brushed metal, like 3M's Brushed Steel. But after reading about 3M on this forum maybe there's a better brand. I think this Arlon looks great, except I want it in darker silver: https://teslamotorsc...-2#post-1369334 What brands of brushed metal do people have confidence in, specifically for longevity? Arlon? Avery? 3M? Bueller? Apparently the procedure to apply 3M's Brushed Steel is waterless. Is it only them? Usually I bulk, so as to wrap edges, but I guess the best approach in this case would be to pre-cut. But this se…

Hey all, I do fleet installs, most always in 3M 180 series stuff for wraps. I am trying to finish my cafe bike (it's been an off and on project for 2 years now) and I want to go 1080 copper canyon on the tank and bits and pieces. I hadn't worked with any 1080 so the shop owner gave me a ton to practice with, scrap matte green. This stuff is stiff without heat. Is the satin and gloss colors the same way?

So yesterday I was wrapping the spoiler on my camaro (in my living room due to bad weather) I had the spoiler on a tabletop, on bags no less, and kept the vinyl clear of my floor. I wiped the spoiler with rubbing alcohol and it was clean as a whistle. Yet, as I started to wrap, I noticed almost immediately that foreign material made its way underneath the vinyl and was now causing bubbles. How do you guys stop debris from getting in? Did I miss a step somewhere?

Hi everyone. New here with a question. Got a car wrapped while it was pretty new and after it was done there were a few (not many) small bumps that looks like sand got trapped between the vinyl and the car when applied. The installed mentioned that this happens time to time because manufacture clearcoats sometimes trap debri that you can't see when before the wrap. I am asking the experts on here if this is true or not. I have seen plenty of wrapped cars but none seem to have this issue. If its true then so be it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

My husband has had a successful paintless dent repair company in Lafayette, LA for 22 years (dentgenie.com). He has a huge customer base in both the wholesale and retail sectors. Unfortunately, 10 days ago he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer that has spread all over his body. He has deteriorated rapidly, and we were told today that he only has a few days to live. I am trying to sell his business. The person interested must have at least 10 years in the business in order to be considered. I am trying to continue the business that he worked so hard to make successful over the years. All tools will be included (he has a ton of custom tools that he created over th…

Hi my name is Chris and I'm after some information from the guru wrappers. I make carbon fiber parts that use epoxy resins and at present I'm making parts for a bike that will be racing at the Isle of Man TT. The sponsor wants to have the parts wrapped in their livery and so my question is how is the part cleaned before wrapping. I can remove any release residue before supplying them but just a little worried you guys may use epoxy unfriendly products prior to laying the vinyl. Any help appreciated.
