These cars are cake to tint. The only issues I had with mine today is the Landau roof. I never understood the point of these. It's just that factory option for people pissed off at tinters or something. They totally limit visiblilty, and in harsh winters, they hold moisture and salt and rot the roof. All of the gaskets are removable without pulling the panels. These kinda remind me of the Taurus or the BMW, with the trim around the top three edges of the window, but on these, the gasket isn't embedded under the plastic as far. Just becareful, 'cause the rubbers have metal in them, and they're easy to bend. I double cut, and it seemed as though the glass on the lef…

Never done tail lights before any hints or tips that would help?

Heads up on this one. They added front quarters on the doors with little wiggle room. No templates on Tint Tek, so hand cutting this one was fun

Has anyone tinted one of these? If so, do the panels pop back like the CTS? Any pointers or helpful advice would be great. Got one coming in next week????????

Just to add it to the list... Not exactly a ton of space in the backseat to climb in and install the rear glass when your 6'2''.

Tips for tinting the 2015 Cadillac CTS 1. hold start button 10 sec to go into service mode (power stays on) 2. sweeps removable, remove 7mm behind handle, pry top of panel back from 5 horizontal clips (2 flat screwdrivers or prying tools work good), pull sweep out. Window down when installing sweeps. 3. lubrication on glass from seals removable with rubbing alcohol. 4. rear headrests pullout with seat backs forward. 5. side panels press against back glass, not a lot of play with width of back glass, when forming try not to cut past matrix much (1mm) 6. lower heater lines retained water where heat formed (bad on freezing days)

In my opinion this car went up on the difficulty level this year, tighter seals, steeper rear glass which is a pain when your 6'3''. You little guys wont have a problem. I tried quickly to remove the headrests without any luck. However I had a crammed schedule and did not put alot of work into figuring out the removal. I thought I could work around them however next time it would make it easier. Just a heads up!

"GM says it has four reports of fires but no injuries. The company says the problem happens because of a weak electrical connection in the module that powers the defroster, located in the driver's side rear pillar." http://www.usnews.com/news/business/articles/2015/09/09/cadillac-ats-recalled-rear-defroster-control-can-overheat

Tinted the 2 fronts on a 2013 Cadillac SRX to match the factory. Pretty easy. Just remember to cut for shifting glass. I've never did this car before so my first cut was off. When I saw that spacing I realized the glass shifts.

I haven't seen anything on this one yet so here it is. Doors are pretty straight forward. One screw behind the pull handle and pull the top of the panel straight away from the door to remove swipe. Rear door quarters have 1/8" black paint around them. Very rear side window buttons on these new ones have been moved to the outer edge so they can be cut with the outer border. Rear seatbelts are in the way so I recommend drop rolling these. Back glass is simple enough with the standard H pattern. The windshield however has heads up display so careful with the slip. I got lucky and custy didn't want a strip. ????

Hey fellas I have a Cadillac CTS wagon tomorrow and wanted to see if any of you have done one yet. I did a couple of the new CTS and STS and both were cake and I'm assuming these are gonna be the same but just didn't see any posts yet and wanted to know if theres anything to watch out for! Also I have a Jaguar S type tomorrow and saw a few posts on those, they sound pretty easy but I had a question a few of the guys said the side seals are rubber, do they pull out like most newer GMs or what? And that back window on those looks like hell, pretty straight forward shrink though? Thanks guys, I'll post some pix tomorrow

I had a 2013 CTS4 come in the other day. Has anyone done one yet? Although it looks like an easy shrink, the rear window looks like a bear to get at from inside. I am 6' 3" 235#, and I had a hard time just getting into the back seat.....in fact, I almost got stuck in there! The front seat does not go forward very far, and the rear headrests do not come out, and are about an inch from the surface of the glass. I gave the guy a price that scared him away (thank god). I can do without that head ache!

What a pain to do, all the windows needed to be heat shrunk . It seems that the back glass was the easiest thing to do on this car. also I guess it didnt help that it was 90 in Chicago this past weekend. Man slip tack and that heat did not work good together. BTW I used EWF True Smoke 35%.

FYI on 07 and newer CTS sedan, the one with no matrix on the upper part of the back window, just a small one the whole way around, and no longer has a carpeted rear deck touching the glass, it's more like headliner material and has clearance at the back window. 24" film will fit this back window if positioned just right.

The switches become unplugged upon removing the door panels. Easy to pull but you have to remove the gasket and then sit the door panel back into place. Or this would be a pretty simple car to do with the panels on.

Finally! Caddy has gone back to normal panel retainers. I'm a panel puller and these things came off like nothin. Way easier than Caddy's of the past. Just did the front 2 roll ups. Went really easy. My only complaint is the stupid battery saver function on the push to start. I had to hit the start button every 5 minutes or so to turn the power back on so I could roll up or down the windows. Other than that, quick money maker.

How to tint 02 caddy deville dts with vinyl top?
by Guest pinoyheat551- 5 replies
I had this customer today that brought in a 02 caddy deville DTS. To say the least, it was a nightmare to tint the back window since it was in vinyl. How in the world do you tint a car with vinyl? So, i am doing the usual - bulk cut, shrink, and then cut again, but in the end, its always too short on one side or the top. Plus, i didn't want to cut the vinyl so i didn't cut too close. Thus, leaving a light gap. The only way i can see this happening is that if there was another deville window (without the vinyl) that i can shrink and cut with. Any thoughts or ideas? This was just a nightmare for me...

Cadi coupe is easy. B/g is tough. not to shrink but to get in the car with. Push pass seat all way up fasten down seat belt. back driver side seat lays down move pass back seat up or down as you need to to get to glass. as you get in car with film try to grt it on B/G as soon as you can and get underneath it move it in to place. car is, "yard" = easy and hard.

Hey have a 2010 Escalade EXT, the back window looked easy enough but was kind of a pita with those little metal things on each side for the defrost but cut from the outside and cleaned up my cuts from the inside and that came out good, the driver passenger roll downs I'm not worried about I've tinted them before and aren't a big deal but the rear roll downs are where I'm running into trouble. The bottom has that body painted piece that curves and there are no rubbers on the outside, do you guys just mark it with a china crayon and cut on your cutting board or do you actually cut those on there? Any tips?

A friend of mine would like me to tint his 01 Deville which has the soft top on it. I only saw the car briefly but if I put the tint on the outside of the glass and cut it down to size and then shrink, is it going to be to short on the inside? I am probably just over analyzing it but it also appears taking out the rear deck would make this installation easier as the bottom of the glass and rear deck seem to be very tight. Any tips or suggestions?

Hey Guys, I am new to window tinting, I have done a few vehicles for friends etc and thus far has gone pretty well. Tonight, I offered to tint my friends 06 CTS for free just to practice and although I am not too worried about doing the doors right, am I better off removing the door panels? And if so, does anybody have any tips? Second, this will be my first back window with any type of curvature. I got a heat gun and I have used it on a few other cars so I think I am good there. Is this a vehicle I will have to remove the rear deck on? If so, how does it remove? Another newbie question: I have been cleaning the outside window, tracing out my pattern and then cleaning…

I did one of these a few years back and remember the seals being really tight on the sides and I know the rear roll downs shift and the back has that damn OnStar antenna. My question for you guys, do you have any pointers? If I remember right the back glass was an easy shrink but I pulled the antenna off and put it back on after but what do you guys do just cut around it? Also on those rear roll downs do you guys mark them or just cut the rear side of the glass and roll it down and finish the front cut? And theres a plastic cover over the seals but if I take that off will the rubbers pull out on the sides like the new GMS (Malibu, Impala, Grand Prixs, Etc) Any tips apprec…
