Red, Blue, Yellow, Black.......... 1 2

Well, like it says............I have an old collection of bondo spreaders......(yellow, whimpy, etc.) and I noticed one of 'em scratched up a quarter pretty good yesterday when I was fightin' a finger.......(didn't see the scratches 'til this morning in good light). When I searched cards & squeegees, I found a lot of color reference, but the only thing I found commong was the "blue max". (Do I dare start a Blue Max vs. Orange Crush thread?)......LOL!!!! So, when somebody says, "I start w/ a Red, then go Yellow, etc. etc..........are they talking the "Power STroke" squeegees I see on filmhandler.com??? Or are they talking about the hard cards???? And if so, whic…

Guys, This phrase I was left with on the bottom line of an email that was to confirm my booking for a guy who wanted his car tinted. Here is my reply............ Hi, No offence intended but if you are as you say a "fussy p" then perhaps you are unintentionally expecting actual glass quality rather a retro fitted aftermarket solar film product? Film will not be for you because there are an incredible amount of variables that affect the outcome of the installation. One of the most important factors is the glass surface where the eye cannot pick up the irregularities in it prior to the fitting of any film. It is only when tinting is applied over this surface that …

HI all, I have been reading and searching the forum about gluing the back glass. Well, today I got my first chance to try the glue method. Man, was it a PITA........what did I do wrong???? I used Eileen's glue from Wal-Mart, but I also have the Elmer's glue. Could it been the glue or the method below?????? This is what I did: I squeegee as usually for a back glass install. After that, I lift back the film to the dot matrix and apply glue lengthwise along the film and dot matrix. Put film back in place, wrap a hardcard in a cloth and started to squeegee the excess glue out (with pressure). Now, I thought it looked really good but as I got outside to take a look, th…

Hey then you guys, when I learnt to tint (at cpfilms ) they taught me to file along the top edge of the side/drop glass/up and down windows. I used this method myself but my employees do not. Some customers pick up on this but I am aware some professional tinters use one way or the other. How about you's?!

of all the things we agrue about here on TD. seems that the one subject we handle best is religion (ironic as that is) priest actually used this one in his sermon. thought id share. should get a grin or two. THREE PROOFS THAT JESUS WAS MEXICAN 1. His first name was Jesus. 2. He was bilingual. 3. He was always being harassed by the authorities. But then there were equally good arguments that... JESUS WAS BLACK 1. He called everybody "brother." 2. He liked Gospel music. 3. He couldn't get a fair trial. But then there were equally good arguments that... JESUS WAS JEWISH 1. He went to His Father's business. 2. He lived at home until he was 30. 3. …

Hey guys...I have a 83 RX-7 im looking to get painted. I heard from alot of people that paint jobs will only last a few years even if done by a decent shop, is this true? I might plan on keeping this car until im old and gray . When it comes too maintaining my cars, im very 4|\|4L about it. Should I take off all trim and then have them paint? How long does a decent paint job last if taken care of?

Today I had to strip a range rover front D/P that had been The guy had pulled the film and left all the glue. Now I dont know what brand it was but I had a hell of a job getting it to strip, even with a steamer it was really hard work. In the end I put an adhesive softener on it and eventually got it off. Are there any brands known to have particularly aggresive adhesive. My Lllu and suntek dont seem to. Naughty

Since Im new to the tinting trade, I have alot of trouble shrinking back glass in one peice. It's easier for me to do 2-3 strips and butt-seam at a defroster line. I use the overlap method, and cut thru both sheets..following the defroster line. When its all done, you can still see my seams from the outside if you look hard enough. Im thinking I would get better results if I installed the strips with the overlap, and then cut them on the inside using one of those plastic razor blades. Is that safe?? Whats the cleanest way to seam a back glass install??

Anyone have pictures of a group of windows, one side not tinted and the other tinted? Or a room that shows in color and quality the side by side difference? Thx!

Once I commit the creases to death & the haze dries up, it'll be about a "D", but I was hopin' for about a "B". (I was doubtful my first shrink would be perfect) Anyway............long story short..........I went out, got the Wagner gun, dryer sheeted the film, 'H' anchored it & started goin'. After a couple minutes, I chucked the glove & started gettin' down to business. Things were going OK, except I let the fingers get away from me. Diagonal fingers = trouble!!! I kept trying to pull the film back to the four quadrants I'd isolated, but by the time I was done, I was outta' room & left with some damage on the sides. Bryan.........kudos to you man.…

This is all done with window film, the rear heating elements are very proud on lexus' and caused me no end of grief trying to get the air bubbles out that appeared along the lines and around the lettering. The letters along the bottom were frustrating to fit aswell. I did this piece by piece and the installation took me 4 hours. What are your opinions on this work and how do you guys install graphics with film if you do? Shadey
