I always get just a little bit of wiggles or lift lines. I will say that my 3m installs look better or the same as the other installers I've seen at the high end dealers. I still want mine perfect though. I use warm water, jj or joy, and bottled water. Any tips on this specific film or should I give up on absolute perfection since the guys who do more and are "better" looks the same? Thanks James

Running film and decals on Jack Baldwin's GT Sport Racing Caymans. Its the only Porsche Factory backed Cayman racing in North America and I've already got some TV exposure...well the decals did.

I just had to take off emblems from the hood before I install ppf..What can I put on the back of the same emblem I just took off so it can stick to the ppf so I don't have to buy new emblems?

Digital designs Help Please

Hi, I am new to cutting PPF with a plotter and I am having a few problems with Digital designs . They have me about ready to pull my hair out as I watch my machine keep chewing through material. I work at a bodyshop and have a car to deliver in the morning. I just need the trunk ledge but when I cut the pattern it starts all good but it cuts about 3/4 of the piece then stacks the end on top of the other end. Any help is appreciated

Is Oracal 651 clear ok to use for paint protection? Yes I know there are actual PPF films but I was wondering if that would work. 651 sticks awesome when I use it for lettering on the side of a vehicle so I was wondering if it would have the same effect? Just making sure it's safe to use and won't damage anything whether it's replaced in five months or five years.

So we just did our training with the guys from premium shield in Australia, after we have done some more cars I'm sure we can get the applications looking A1. The only problem we seem to have is very small bubbles at the bottom of the hood where the film wraps around the edge, not enough stretch when tacking the film under the seam of the hood? Is this a common thing for brand new installers? Any tips for some new guys would be gratefully received !!

Anyone have leftover 60" ppf?

Looking for 20' or more of quality ppf to play with. Trying to decide whether or not to venture into this business and have been teaching myself with a roll of cheap PVC. My technique is improving by wrapping/rewrapping fenders and hoods - less silvering, fewer stretch and tool marks, but I don't seem to be able to get it perfect. I feel like I'm wasting my time. I think it's time to move onto a better film. I've read good things bout Xpel Ultimate and Suntek, but just want a good urethane film to try next. I'm new here but have browsed a lot. I know I can't send PMs so please PM or leave your contact info and I'll get back to you. Thanks in advance.

Hi All, In expanding to PPF I have also done some research on nano coatings. Have had a look at the process of it and I am surprised how easy it appears to apply. Seems if you are handy with polishing/waxing a car then nano coatings are very similar. I would feel confident with applying it to a new car but car detailers believe it is best left to them due to them believing it is pointless applying to a car that has not had scratches and swirls removed. I have seen it offered by some PPF places but mostly car detailers. My question is should it be a service offered by PPF or is it best left to car detailers?

Does anyone else wish SunTek's adhesive was a bit stronger? I love everything about the film, but I feel a stronger adhesive would be a benefit to it. I'm actually considering trying one of the Xpel products due to the fact I'd like a little more bite in my installs.

Hi All, Had a play around with PPF for the first time with the sample roll of Suntek they were great enough to give me. Wanted to see how different it was to apply other then the vehicle wraps we are used to. Some skills are transferable but still much to learn. It obviously left me with a number of questions but will wait until I read all 30+ pages in this forum of PPF and absorbed all other tips from other various sources (have previously mentioned the live training difficulties where im located) I used 2 drops of JJ for Slip but was a bit too tacky so think I might try 3 next time. I then wrapped the corners around (as we do with wraps). I didn't use anythi…

Howdy guys. My car gets back from the paint shop soon. Brand new car, insurance job and reputable shop so I'm guessing they'll use good paint? How long should I wait till I can put some ppf or wrap films on? I've got a country trip coming up and I want to protect the front end ASAP. Cheers

Is it normal to use DAP software and use Suntek film, because DAP Program is very easy to operate and for me Suntek Film is easy to put on and I like the quality of the film, because at the end it comes down to how the finished product looks like when your done installing the flim So picking the right film quality is the most important right?

Hi my company is just in the process of learning about ppf film as we are distrubuting it here. Recently had a demonstrator here showing us about installation techniques and product information which all went well. However, these were photos taken of the car a few weeks after the demo, I did see these a day or so after the install but wanted to wait to see what happened. My questions are. 1: Does this sort of thing happen a lot? 2: What causes it? 3: What can help prevent it? 4: Would you accept it? Any other comments? thanks for any imput

Thinking about diving head first into this business... So I guess I'm asking how many kits can I get out of a roll of 100 feet?

I wanted to thank everyone that came by the booth this past week at SEMA. We had a fantastic response to the new topcoat, and one of the industry's well respected patriarchs took this cool video of it's stain resistance - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=197803760403784&set=vb.241273639266311&type=2&theater The film easy easy to stretch and install, and can be applied with ANY squeegee currently out there being used. We love it, and I know that the tintdude users will want to give it a try for themselves. Shoot me an email if you would like a free sample kit.

Worked on the full front end on this full size Range Rover and was very happy with the outcome of the full hood so I thought I'd post a couple reflection pictures to show the lack of stretch lines. Excuse the moisture still under the film, just did it 10 minutes before the pictures. And, no, that is not me in a flower dress.

This week we had to design kits for two cars with completely different briefs. First of all the 650S is our dealers demo car so we designed and fitted a full front end, mirrors, carbon air intakes and arches front and back. The P1 owner is not a fan of PPF but realises the benefits so he wanted as little as possible and selected the areas he wanted covered. I am hoping that when he sees the final install he will be back for more. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/z2xkf5j61kcj7ly/dshuoGzsNA Steve

Just thought I'd drop in and let the PPF guys know about the new product we launched yesterday. Clearshield PRO This is a competitive product that we have been working to release for quite some time. Finally the synergies between Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics (the division we are a part of) are paying off with an amazing product. Durable top coated material No steamer required for install 7 year warranty in N. America Available in up to 60" widths In stock right now and ready to go! I've been playing with it this morning and enjoying being able to showcase a competitive PPF film in the Southern California market where the film must be clear as gla…

2005 4Runner at one of my body shop accounts. This is before install. I have never seen one this bad. Painter said the factory clear coat failed and turned yellow. It did have the fenders still done, but I couldn't tell exactly what it was. From the dealership it came from I am guessing Clearshield.

So im going to be helping afriend install a kit pretty soon. He's getting the kit for his girls car and asked me to help since I have some experience tinting. I do paint correction, not tinting or ppf. I'm just wondering what I'll need to install this on a one time budget? Taking it some where is not what he wants so it's up to me. I plan on taking some training and maybe doing this as an extra add on, but not for a while. What can you pros recommend I get for the install? Tools, chemicals? It's a kit so I dont think I neee to get too fancy? Thanks for your help
