Been installing paint protection on and off for around 2 years now. Xpel Ultimate is the film I use. Having some trouble in certain areas. - Cleanliness - scrub clean, clay bar - Silvering - Use baby shampoo and about a 20% rubbing alcohol mix, maybe the gel is better suited? - Wrapping edges Anybody have any detailed videos that show maybe better methods to install PPF or maybe some words of advice? Time is an issue as it is taking me full day to install basic package. -bumper -hood -fenders -mirrors Love the product just would like to be better/more time efficient at the installation. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi everyone, came across this site looking for information on PPF for my recently- purchased truck, lot of good info!! But I still have some questions. Has anyone had any experience with Ziebart's Z-Shield PPF? (Is it made by another company & re-branded for Ziebart?) A local Ziebart shop offers this with a lifetime warranty, but I haven't been able to find any reviews or info on the product. Only a couple other local shops that do PPF offer 3M products but these do not seem to rate too highly from what I read. Another shop uses the 3m products as well as Titan, and was open to the idea of installing a pre-cut Xpel kit if I chose to go that route. …

Have already had the pleasure to sign up AND have my website speedfilm.net totally redesigned. Not only that but now I have a Facebook/Twitter/Instagram pages I never had time to deal with. I'm showing up on google searches with literally dozens of new ways for the end consumer to find me. Most importantly, I have also had the chance to sample some of the patterns and was quite impressed with the fit, especially the designed in wrap feature. This allowed my wrapped edges to actually fall exactly where the panel ended instead of a random size that needs to be trimmed to fit. I'm also excited about some of the other features in the works which will help my dealership ac…

Had a few people asking when we will get the 16' ES so I thought I'd just post and let everyone know it's now available. Also we had the unique opportunity to get the new supercharged Kawasaki H2 sport bike in our facility so we designed the entire bike! The paint on this bike scratches if you look at it so owners are definately looking to have ppf installed. We have another one lined up already because of the same issue with how easy the paint scratches. Really neat bike!

I installed film on a hood last night and left it overnight in the garage but when i went to go look at it this morning there was a little black hair or something underneath the film. Is it safe to lift this and remove it or is it too late? Also is it recommended to use some kind of air purifier for cleaner to get all the contaminants out of the air during the install? I always do a good job but there's always little issues with airborne contaminants and little Hair.

Had a customer come in a week or so ago claiming his Speedfilm was looking bad and it had just been done a few months ago( turns out from a body shop I haven't worked with in nearly two years). He shows up and has an insurance estimate with Speedfilm listed for replacement, but we obviously didn't do the work. Since he was my original customer, I told him we would replace it and I would settle it with his insurance company, couldn't let him go around with his bumper looking so bad thinking it was our stuff. The film was turning brown in some areas, tore in little pieces, and shattered like glass when removing. It also left glue all over the place and took several hou…

Has anyone considered or have done PPF on license plates? Reason I ask, here in Florida, they only offer a new plate every 10 years without having to pay extra. Last month my wife finally got a new plate after the 10 year period and the old one was so oxidized and discolored that she was actually stopped a couple of times because law enforcement couldn't read it. (And yes, I did try to clean it) I would assume PPF would help keep that from happening although I know most the products out there will only really last maybe 5 years before needing to be replaced. Does PPF provide UV protection? When time for the PPF to be replaced will it take the coloring off the plate? Any …

I had a client ask me to install PPF on of his clients desks. After t was installed it loomed great but after it dried there was a white frosted look to it. The desk has a laminate veneer which has a mat-like finish to it. This would make the 4gt surface they have had covered. I had them show me the other surfaces. They all looked good. All of the others were a wood finish (all different) it seems as if this desk being a mat finish is the issue where the PPF isn't making contact with the valleys on the matt finish Has anyone done an application like this before? Anyone know how to resolve this?

At my place of work I have a sheet of glass on the wall as a "transfer station" for when I'm doing installs, as is required for a clean area to transfer the film to the car to. I'm sure many of you have a similar setup. What I'm wondering is what any of you have setup as a mobile transfer station for window tint and PPF. A sheet of glass the right size would just be heavy, obnoxious, and dangerous. So any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I recently purchased some film from invisiblemask.com and paid for the upcharge to the Pro series film. They are stating 3M does not put their logo on the backing. The regular Scotchgard has the logo so I find this odd. Can anyone verify so my installer doesn't run me off with the spray bottle?

Hey everyone. I've been mobile for the majority of my time installing PPF and I've done a great job with it. The more full wraps we're doing now make me want to get a shop. If you've been mobile and then opened a shop I'd love to ask you some questions. PM me with your number and best time to call if you can spare a few minutes to answer some questions. Thanks everyone, Kyle

Been informed here in the UK the reason we've not got it over here is because they can't make enough for the demand of you American PPF installers. Strange that no one on here seems to even talk about it.

I'm taking delivery of a new Porsche Macan next week and I'm going to have PPF installed on it promptly. I've have vehicle with PPF installed on them before, however, they were both earlier generation products. There are several installers in my area who are reputable. I have read a TON about the different films and it seems as though when it comes to the high end films the differences are fairly minor. Ha I g said that, here is my one huge pet peeve with PPF - orange peel. My car will have beautiful smooth paint and I want a film that matches that. I can't find a good video or still images that compare the films orange peel characteristics head to head against smooth pai…

Hi, Did a Ventureshield PPF install on a white Mazda about 12 months ago. Recently its been in the panel shop to have the front bar, passenger front guard and door repaired and painted. Noticed that the Ventureshield on the passenger side of the bonnet and A-pillar section near the guard in question more discolored than other areas. Could Infared drying lights cause the extra yellowing if it was used to bake these panels? Thanks in advance.

I'm a newbie with PPF and just did a complete hood on a 2015 2500HD Denali. Aside from one spot where a piece of debris got under the film and I didn't see it till I was some distance away from it, it came out pretty good considering the size and complexity of the hood. Also, one edge near a corner looks like cracked glass. I do have a couple issues / questions though. I didn't plan out mitering my corners very well and now I think I have some bunching on the edge of the 4 corner of the hood I need to address., I wrapped about a 1/2 around all edges and cut out small triangles in the minor angles on the front of the hood. On the main four corners (90 degree) I …

Happened to stumble across a video from Knifeless Tech Systems doing a demo of their soon to be release PPF knifeless tape at Wrapscn 2015. The video was on a paid site so linking to it wont work and i cant seem to find it anywhere else. The jist of the video was: - Expected to be released July 2015. - The knifeless tape is run along the desired edge/area, PPF is installed over the top as per normal, a second tape is then run over the top following the same line as the underlying knifeless. The Knifeless is released as per normal, spraying of the edge with slip/gel is then used whilst removing the remaining knifless plastic from the edge. - meant to give a clean cu…

Just a heads up. I have done a few 2015 C300s lately that have the C400 Bumper. Not a huge difference between the 2. So if your in a hurry you may cut the wrong bumper. They look close to the same at first glance.
