How long do you expect the film you install today to last on a daily driver? What do you tell your customer when they ask?

I have been looking at getting into paint protection film for some time. I'm located in Tacoma Washington just south of Seattle. I'm looking for recommendations if there are any places in my area for training. I'm interested in using xpel film but am not opposed to other film manufacturers. I talked to Jeff from xpel I was very pleased with what they have to offer but the only thing holding me back is the being out of state. Just wondering if it would be beneficial to stay close to home learn the basics and see if it's something I see myself doing as a career and then from there looking into further traing. Any helpful information or personal experience would be appreciat…

I'm about to do a full hood on a Jag F Type R. I've done probably 100 or so full hoods, but no "clamshell" type hoods. For anyone that's done a full hood on this particular car, some advice would be much appreciated. I work alone (I could have my wife help me), and it will be bulk film. Where are the fingers likely to be, and do the hood vents come out easily? Invisibra Norm, I know that you said that you've done them.

Hi all - Anyone applied PPF to the front bumper of Sienna SE? The bumper is very 'stylish' with deep grooves and cuts. I have always put PPF on my vehicles myself, but, I'm stumped with this bumper. The folks from which I purchased the PPF say I just have to really pull and stretch to get the film into those deep grooves. Just wondering if anyone has done this model and if there are any pointers! Quite a challenge for someone that is not formally trained! Thanks!

When running the newer plastic PPF backing materials through the cutter we experience static charge and attracts particles which may end up on the vehicle during installation. Do you guys have any recommendations and experience reducing or eliminating this electric charge?

We'll be closed tomorrow, so I figured I would tell all of you "happy holidays" from all of us. Enjoy your family and friends during your time off and try not to think about fingers, stretch marks, and lift lines for a few days. Cheers!!

Hi All I would like to say this site has helped me with a lot of questions on getting the PPF. Recently I have gotten the xpel ultimate PPF installed. I am thinking about getting a complete detail. The detailer said that he was going to do compounding on the car and was scare that they'll compound the hood, bumpers and fenders where I have the xpel ultimate PPF installed. I have told them about these areas but what would happen if they did. Thanks

I got a new 2015 subaru forester and XPEL ultimate PPF when I visited my parents during the Thanksgiving week in the Bay Area, and I found the installer from XPEL website and called to setup an appointment. He is a mobile installer, so we met at a car dealership. After installation, he filled out a warranty card for me and told me all I needed was the warranty card because it had his customer ID on it, so I could get warranty from any XPEL installer. I got the PPF on 11/26/2014, and today 12/07/2014 I noticed there are bubbles and peelings on my front bumper, so I decided to claim warranty from XPEL to find a installer in Southern California because I am Working in…

Picked up the new Lexus NX designs this week for you guys. The Hybrid model has been uploaded in the DAP under PROFORM and the F- Sport should be in there by end of day tomorrow. It has a pretty scary looking bumper but it isn't that bad to install. We also finally added the 2015 Cayenne Turbo bumper to our Porsche lineup which we know has taken us a bit to get our hands on but it's finished now.

I switched from 3M to mainly Suntek 2 years ago and I have been getting small white specs under the film. I am almost certian it is from the factory top and bottom cut on the roll (I only do bulk installs). I have tried wiping both edges before peeling of the liner and switched out my spray bottles to make sure it was not build up from the bottle. I have tried pulling the liner while the film lies on the hood and pulling liner off in the air and I just cant get away from having some white specs of paper getting stuck under the film. Any suggestions?

I asked XPEL Jeff but I also wanted to draw wisdom from a wider audience. Is it possible to one piece this hood? Jeff said it's possible but it will shrink back over time. Any input on how long it would last and how difficult it would be since it would need to stretch about 6 inches?

If you have any special requests for design while we have the RC F please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate while we have the vehicle. You can view the kits at store.proformdesign.com

Hey guys and girls I need help with something. Okay I am not bashing just frustrated as hell. So what am I doing wrong! I can install Suntek, clear shield pro, and PS V2.0 without any issues whatsoever. Heck I even hated on Premium shield before but I can get it flawless and that's from a BMW 5 series owners own mouth. lol Here is where I need help for some reason I cannot get Xpel Ultimate to lay clear. I always get the small cloudy or hazey spots. I have tried everything and they are always there. I have adjusted soap from palomolive, dawn, joy, baby shampoo, and tint slime. All different measurement of soap to water ratios. If I try to strech or compress I get marks t…

The new CLS Class Coupe designs are available in the DAP under PROFORM for you guys. If you have a customer call with a CLS Class Coupe when it arrives be aware that it is a 4 door vehicle and not a 2 door. Mercedes has told us that they are calling it a coupe since it is a 'sporty' 4 door vehicle . Attached are a couple of screen shots of the designs, there are a lot more available for this vehicle that we made. You can view everything on our site (store.proformdesign.com) so you know what's available for your customer.

I did a full hood and fender wrap on a 2011 mazda RX8 GT in 2011. car is in for an insurance claim and requires full fender reinstall for the claim. To my AMAZEMENT! patterns have been removed from the DAP. has anyone else ever run across that ? Why is sweet christ would patterns get removed? Its a 2 piece fender to boot because of the shape so this should be fun having to bulk!

Hello eveyrone! How are you guys? This is kugs from South Korea. I have been using patterns with the Grapthtec ploter for PPF installation. However I just recognized that I have to use and learn the hand-cut skill for my customer's full-PPF needs. I am sure that there is a limitation if I depend only patterns from plotter. so I am doing like self-traning-hand-cutting for full-ppf without SW based-plotter patterns. My issue is that I am very very afraid of cutting a knife on cars. becuase It can be knife-scrach-marks on cars. So could you guys recommend a good knife for PPF? Is there any technology based good knife like anti-scratch-knife or som…

Hey guys. I've been installing for about a year now and am having issues with a hood on a new Infiniti QX60. I can get the bulk of the hood down in a few minutes but the outside 6" or so has a steep, almost concave section. I am having trouble getting it down without leaving lines in the film from the fingers. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Have a couple of guys willing to install for me if I get in a jam. What's fair rate to have them install if I am supplying the film, and all the supplies? Is it like window tint? 30-40%, or is it a set dollar amount. Looking for input for the so called area. Full front clips with wrapped edges and also standard from ends with I UT wrapped edges.

New PremiumShield Elite Topcoat

Has anyone else had a chance to use this new version of PremiumShield Elite? I want to share my results, but first a disclaimer - I'm a distributor and longtime fan/user of PremiumShield and have been waiting (and waiting) for this new material. So, that being said... I'd been using another brand (contact me by email for the brand) while waiting for the new material, with really mixed results. So much, in fact, that even with over 13 years in the business, I was beginning to doubt my abilities and processes. At first, I just wrote off the come-backs and bad results to my failure to do something correctly. Today I decided to replace the hood piece on my customer's…

Anyone brought a pattern from this company before? I need to know where I've gone wrong on downloading a pattern. I have downloaded the file to my documents Created a zipped file opened new file in signlab library and dropped it in there. this all seems to have happened as you can see it downloading. I then open the signlab and go to new folder and try to open. I have also downloaded there cutting software but still no joy. Wouldn't normally use them but there the only one with the 2015 Audi S3 with the triangle pieces on the bumper and the thin inserts around the grills. any advise would be appreciated.

Hi guys, I am a beginner- PPF-installer. I just opened PPF installing-shop in Korea and Japan. I used XPEL XTREME and I decided to use SunTek PPF now. As you know that there are two types of PPF for SunTek. 1. PPF C (Paint Protection Film – Coated) 2. PPF NC (Paint Protection Film – Un-Coated) Between SunTek PPF-C and PPF-S Price difference is around 200$~250$ I believe that PPF C is surely better than PPF NC, but when I think of the price differences, PPF NC could be better option over PPF C if its quality is not so different. I actually do not know the differences since I have no experience to use SunTek PPFs. So could you guys ple…

In this topic I would like to share my humble experience of 12 years in PPF. Where I witnessed the rise and fall of many, and had a sneak peak on how they are made. Ppf can be manufactured in two ways: 1- thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) This is usually the best way to make film. Where high melt heat extrusion of polyurethane occurs to make it in film form. And if not produced properly would go yellow after usage and uv exposure. 2- PVC films Cheap, unreliable and have a slight blue haze on white cars and would chip and crack and burn. Then an adhesive is applied to the film, and a top coat. Your top coat is either: Silicon based (washes away after a while) P…
