I am considering attending PPF Training. I have been tinting for 24+ years and done some paint film. I am wanting to add it to my offer list and I do not sell what I can not do myself. I have a cutter and experience in laying large vinyl and film. Does it matter if I do not go to the school of the film I might offer for sale? (i.e. I might sell Llumar or 3m Ventureshield but I might go to the Xpel school) Any input from the reps or experienced installers would be appreciated. Also include which film you install and/or like the best and why. Cost is not an option, I believe in paying for what you get.

GD all, I was wondering where those of you that use syringes, order them from? I was given a few 1CC 30g syringes by a fellow installer, but he said his boss orders them and he didn't have a clue from where. The ones I was given had an orange top, if it helps

I've been contemplating on adding a hydrophobic sealant service over PPF. It's stated on XPEL website that it's safe so I need feedbacks. Ease of use? Best shine? Longevity? Is it worth my time? Thanks

anyone else seeing air pockets after your installs have dried out? over the last 3 weeks I have seen it happening on and off. Any gel that I usually leave behind has dried out in past, and the film sucked down to the paint.

Hi I see various claims about films self-healing and wonder how this is defined. As understand it the XPEL Ultimate and Suntek films are the "only self-healing" films on the market. I don't think this is the case as if I scuff the Clearshield product and then give it some heat then the scuff mark disappears. Does this make it self-healing? Is there a test anyone uses that they'd like to share please? Regards Chris

I know "proper" to talk pricing on the forum because of variances in region and abilities and such, but I'm just trying to get a ball-park figure. I've done multiple full-body PPF wraps on supercars in the past, but a million dollar Gloss Black Porsche 918 Spyder is a whole new level for me. Anyone done one? or a GENERAL idea on what I should quote this out at? Also, I will be bulking the whole car... Thanks Von

Precut kit or hand cut kit?

I've been installing ppf kits with some hand trimming after stretching for about a year now. I have hand cut a couple cars and was pretty happy with the way it turned out but it does take a lil longer for me. I do alot of vinyl wrapping so cutting on the car is not an issue. So go with paying fir software an wrestle with the film or hand cut it? What are the seasond pros doing? Thanks.

Hi everybody, I need a quick advice please, I am planning to put a paint protectin film for my new car. In Egypt, where I live, we have an authorized dealer for Xpel, unauthorized dealer for Premium Shield, and Llumar. I am actually confused as everyone of them claims that he has the best quality film, I searched the internet but it did not help me to make up my mind. Would you kindly assist me on selecting the best film among the brands I mentioned. Thanks in advance.

hi I am new at installing PPF and was wondering is pressure on demand steamer really needed or can I just get away with purchasing a Wagner Cheapo from the orange store? I'm just putting together my toolkit and supplies right now. also what size rolls of film are the most popular and recommended? also what size plotter is the best for all uses? And what brands are good? I'm also trying to incorporate tinting windows into my venture as well so Any advice or recommendations and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I work for a big distribution company that installs suntek door and hood packages and are starting front bumpers. I was hoping for some feedback on if there are known problems with lifting or any other issues with suntek. What do you clean with, if you heat and what tools you use? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

How do you know when to use soap n water mix or soap n gel mix to do full hoods? Does one mixture look better than the other after film is layed down? Does one mixture work better when installing?

What's everyone's favorite spray bottles? Do you have different ones for your slip and tack solutions? I like the Spraymaster with the silver/blue handle due to the high water output. However, looking to switch over to something that still sprays when the bottle is upside down.

Just finished a full body wrap with 3M Pro Series on a black Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. -Top Coat: Very similar to Nano-fusion. Which I rate as having the best stain/scratch resistance and self healing properties. -Clarity (orange peel): I will rate from best to worst. Suntek, Xpel Ultimate, 3M Pro, Nano, VS, and 3M. -Stretch-ability: Similar to VentureShield. Not as good as Suntek or Xpel. Better than Nano or old scotchgard -Cutting: Film doesn't tear like Xpel so that's a plus. -Adhesive: Absolute garbage!!!!! The adhesive sticks way too fast. Any light stretch will create marks. Any moderate stretch will destroy the adhesive too no return (IE. …

Hi Guys, My name's Shaun and I've been a self employed valeter/detailer for many years now. A good friend/client said "do you do ventureshield!" I want my Huracan and my 360cs doing I've phoned a few places and they want £1500 a car" This got me thinking! I've done small parts of rear fenders and things in the past, but I know it's alot more difficult to do whole front ends of cars! My question is where would I get training from, what kind of plotter would I need, what are the best films, what software do I need? Thing is, I've got a good client base that I know would have it fitted, so I'm half way there.. Helllllp!

Hi Guys, Metropolitan Detail is currently looking for an installer to add to our staff! This is an opportunity to get some experience working on lots of high end cars and do full front ends and full car wraps on a daily basis. We currently do less than one dozen partial masks per year, which means that you will work mainly with bulk film for full front ends and full car wraps. I realize that I have repeated myself, just wanted to make it clear that this is a position that really gets the hands on some cool projects daily. The position is open to all installers that like to work with cars, and have a passion to LEARN new methods and do thing the way they are ins…

I have a question for the Xpel users: How many of you are on the website as an installer and purchase less than $14,000 a year in film? I know of 2 in CO.that do not purchase fourteen or more a year, and one is in my own town at that (BTW he only stocks 3m per his and my conversation). I am just trying to get a feel for Xpel's character, as Jeff seems to be the only one trying to help my business. My rep has been nothing but an ass to me, and I have given away over 150 feet of Ultimate ppf ,as to not use Suntek, as it is requested daily here from these dealers. After bumping heads on several other issues with my rep, I am now told I have to be doing over $14,000 a year i…

Clear bra on a 1 year old car?
by Guest biga- 9 replies

I thought about getting a clear bra when I first got my car but now 10 months and 10,000 miles later I think I want to get it. I am doing more highway driving with a new job and would like to protect the front end. I noticed I have one small chip on the bumper and one on the grill. Am I okay to just touch these small chips up? The paint still looks shiny other then those spots do I need to do any prep work?

Need some advice from the leading PPF experts. 1. What is the min amount of material do you leave for edge wrapping? 2. Do you wrap the the C7 bumper into the hood? Best method to do so due to the rubber seal on the inner bumper edge. 3. When wrapping full doors how which do you wrap on the quarter panel side? 4. Do you flush out the edges before wrapping? 5. When do you tell the client I am not wrapping that edge? When is the best time to use XPEL surface prep or equal?

Hi All, was hoping for some quick advice. My car is on an open drive, so stays under a stormshield cover during the week and I take off at weekend. I always wash/dry the car before putting the cover back on. In the past I do get a few scratches here and there despite being careful. I'm picking up a new car in 2 weeks time and considering a full detail & Full PPF (suntek @ paintshield UK). 1) In your opinion will the self healing properties of the film prevent the occasional scratches caused by the car cover ? 2) any issues with the PPF being under cover during the week ? thanks in advance for any advice Matt
