I tinted this car a while back and one of the windows didn't work, so I tinted it as best I could, ya know, 1" top edge. Well this moron comes back and says," I don't know what happened to this window, it must have slid down or something." Yeah right, A-hole!! Like you drove around with your window tint like that for 4 months, and just now decided to get it fixed!! So he seriously expects us to replace it, crazy @#$%!! I also had a guy come in once and say we forgot to tint one of his quarters, he just noticed it, a YEAR later!! Man! What's your best " trying to get my window tinted for free" line?

All this talk about seams got me wondering, how many times you guys mess up part of a one-piece, after it's applied, and turn it into a quick two-piece hidden seam? You know, it's 6 o'clock on a Friday night, you're tired, you wanna go home, the customer will never know,....... Then, how many times is the density off, or the color, so you end up doing it over anyway?? Just curious, is it just me?

Window Films

What's your take on film? What company is the best to work with? I've been using global for a while now and switched to Bio but the film is crap! Does not shrink well. Im thinking about global again. What do you guys think? In this area we have to do $100 a car thing, so I don't want to buy a very expensive film. I did a caprice yesterday with the Bio film and I could not shrink the film right, kept creasing. Felt like my first car. I even tried to mold the window first on the outside then install, didn't work out well for me.

Haze after tinting??!?! 1 2

So I just finished tinting my wife's Mazda 3 last weekend using film I bought from tintkits.com (the pre-cut stuff). I think it should be totally dry now. But why is there a layer of haze on them? The strangest thing is, only the driver side front, drive side rear, and back glass have this problem. The passenger side is perfectly clear. Did I do something wrong during the install? I used the recommanded soap solution called film-on (mixing 3 full presses of the solution with 1 QT water). Please help!

OK, here goes nothin'. I graduate today from old-school to new school. Back in the day, I'd have taken a razor blade to this thing & just taken some time & cursed a bit. I'm sure the cursing may still be there........(it's just therapeutic)......but I'm baggin' this one & we'll see what happens. Rather than ammonia, I opted for 409.......(didn't have any Simple Green layin' around)........and I used PLENTY so we'll see how she works. It's not hot today, but it's hot in the sun, so I've got the back glass pointin' right at it. Been sittin' for about 10 minutes now so I'll give it a bit more, then go out & start peelin'. I forgot to take pics from t…

sorry, wont go that dark. good luck with your other tinting options in chico. im not that hard up for work. > >Dear B, > > I have had 5% on all windows including the front windows of my last car a Chrystler Seabring which I drove for 6 years and it did not effect my night driving at all it actually made it better reducing glare and what not. I received one ticket in that time which I just paid the $60 dollar ticket and kept my windows tinted. My mom also has all of her windows including the front tinted on her 2005 Camery at 5% it looks really nice and it is not an issue for us with night driving. I h@te the look of lighter tint on the front and …

do you treat 'em like dot matrix? I don't. I don't prep 'em, glue 'em, vinyl 'em. I just tint it and call it good. I've seen several posts here (recently and in the past) about members treating them like dots. What do you guys do? (not that I'm gonna change my way just curious)

A picture is worth a thousand words. The Honda rider was traveling at such a "very high speed", his reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police estimate a speed of ~250 KM/h (155mph) before the bike hit the slow moving car side-on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the rider's reaction time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't sufficient enough for him to even apply the brakes. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 10 feet from where the collision took place. All three involved (…

The shop owner had a 5' X 11' 1/4" tempered glass rolling sign fabricated for about $900, a few years back. Instead of anchoring it by the road, he insists on pulling it in and out every day. (so no-one puts a brick through it) From the beginning it was a bad idea. When the wind gets up, the thing acts like a giant sail and it pulls up one, or both anchors, and goes sailing across the parking lot. The first victim was a Ferrari Mondial, got a caved in quarter panel....crunch The second victim was a Caddi rear-end......slam and now.....The bosses Bruick show car.......crash and the glass is shattered. heres the sign before and the sign after ...and the hoop…

Anyone do remote start installs for dealers???

Like the topic says, I would like to talk to someone that does dealer work, for new car dealerships, used car lots, repair shops, ect. I used to install for a bunch of car audio shops, and started doing work on my own out of my dads repair shop using his customer base, and then for a few of his friends repair shops. I feel that their customer bases are pretty much tapped out at the time, and I would like to approach dealerships and other businesses, but I am not sure on the proper way to go about it as far as who to speak to, pricing, ect. Also, does anyone provide a mobile service, such as doing the install right at the customers location....be it a dealership, home, …

I've been enjoying this forum for a long time. I think I've read almost every piece of text that I could find here, and managed to grab my ballz and make a few posts. I hope to contribute back at least a small portion of the knowledge that I've taken from here. It is invaluable and inspiring (most of the time) My background. I'm an automotive engineer. Ok guys and gals heres your chance. I recently sold my 12 year old shop and am moving to open a new shop. I wont mention the film I used the longest but I tried them all. Sun guard, solar Guard, Llumar, Johnson, 3M etc. I would like to know what everyone thinks is the best film on the market today with the best backed warranty. I would also like to know what is the cheapest film on the market today for those price shoppers that dont give a flying flip about warranty. I am in Texas so if you know the distributor in this area let me know also. Thanks and I look forward to the replys.

The scene....... Got an invite to quote a home. Did that but another company was also in selling Sungard Optima for maximum heat rejection. Film literature says it is designed and built for Australian conditions. I had a better price. 77 lousey sq.ft. Why don't you have a lifetime warranty? I can do but it's not realistic. Went through all the reasons why. Took no notice of intelligent reasoning. But she believes their product has to be better because of it. So she now reckons she needs to do more research. I was not getting through to her, brain dead. She definately wants this warranty for life in writing. So I up my gear, collected my brochures, told her sh…
