Girlfriend wants her sun/moon roof tinted in her new PT Cruiser. Its clear glass and not dot matrix. I remember reading somewhere that it was ok to tint sunroofs and then it wasn't ok to tint them cause they could collect heat and shatter. I have Llumar Jet 35%, 15% and 5%. she wants the 5% Can I do this without the sunroof shattering?

Advice required if poss 1 2

Hi All I am inting a conservatory roof at the moment. pretty straight forward, tricky corner bits etc, 27 inch width etc etc. Quite a large conservatory. Problem has arisen as the seperating sections are beams sticking out 10 inches either side of the glass (not to mention wonky rubbers) This is causing me problems to cut the film as the film is then at a right angle and with it being a thick film wont lay flat to ensure a true straight line. I use my factory edge no problem but its the other side and the point. I hav tried to cut exact prior to aplying onto the glass but seems pretty much impossible... Dont wanna give up but going through a bit of film at the moment…

Im just starting window tinting. I have been all over the web, and I can not find anything on which window tint is the best, which kind I should learn with. Im starting small, working at home, saving and will buy a shop. I don't have a shop I can go work at, so I will be on my own. If anybody has any helpful advice, please tell me. The main things I need are: Getting the best tools, which ones and from who?, Getting the film, if I should buy from you guys 3-4 rolls a time, or if I should get the film direct, and the insider tips that you get from doing, like heatshrinking rear window. Please help me get started. Thanks

I detail at a car dealership and there's only one thing that I cant do. I can't get rid of bird crap stains and bug stains (especially on dark colored cars). I'm sure someone knows of a product or procedure to get rid of these things. I'd like to start getting rid of these stains on our private customer cars ASAP. THANKS!

Allow 30 days for bubbles to go away? 1 2
by Guest JB One- 19 replies
- 1.9k views
I just got my windows tinted here in Long Island NY 10 days ago. I still have bubbles on the windows, not to mention a couple of creases on the lower back window that look like scratches. I called the tint shop and they told me to allow up to 30 days for the bubbles to go away. Does this sound right or did they just do a sloppy job?

I'm trying to get a one way look on a guard shack...was thinking of using a silver 20 and then a layer of a non-reflective tint maybe a NR 20 to darken it and cut down on the inside reflectivaty...which do you thing would work better a light NR film or a darker NR film...

I have two business.. one is the tinting, which is picking up but still in its early stage (going on 2 years now) and the other is a nite time janitorial business that I've been doing forever. What I'd like to do is have *one* insurance policy to cover both businesses. Is that possible?? If not, the only other thing I thought of doing would be forming a new business, say The Roach Group - and have that insured... kindof like a parent company. Of course, I don't even know if that's possible to do.... Any ideas?!?!? RoAcH

Getting ready to tint
by Guest BigBlockElectra- 3 replies

I am almost ready to tint my Buick. I think it is a good car to start on because it is big and should be easy to work on. The windows are all "one piece" meaning there is no partition on the rear door glass between the part that rolls down and a stationary part: it all rolls down. 1. I can easily remove the door panels, but what is the purpose of doing this when putting the tint on? Is it so the felt seals don't peel the tint back when I roll the window down? 3. Is it easiest to tint with the doors open working outside of the car, (in a garage of course) or do you recommend sitting in the car with the door shut. 4. How do you get such an accurate precise line…

Hi guys! I need to move to another location, because the area I'm in right now is absolutely horrible for walk-in's. I looked at a building today on one of the busiest roads in town, and it was perfect! The only problem is the 3 bays next door are occupied by a car audio, performance, and mobile entertaining shop. Upon further investigation I found out they are doing tinting. But very little. They knew right away who I was, and were suprisingly, extremely rude, and said " there's no way you could lease that shop next door. I just can't see them letting you have it!" So, now I'm angry, because this guy also was in my shop hunting for prices last week, and pretending he di…

Thank you for this most interesting forum. I welcome your advice. I have a home in central FL that receives full sun all day. We are in the middle of a seven acre pasture with no trees or shade. I have to believe that window tinting on the east, west, and south sides will save us money on the AC, which still cycles all day even in October. I just finished meeting with the local 3M dealer. He recommended 3M NV-25, Night Vision Series. We have 36 panes totaling 192 sq. ft. Installed pricing for solar film is $XXXX, safety film is $XXXX. We were in the eye of hurricane Charley last year. Our winds were 90 mph sustained with 110 mph gusts. Thankfully, we did not lo…

Help With Windows and Pool Requlations in Tampa
by Guest iiibdsiil- 4 replies
- 1.5k views
My girlfriends house needs tempered glass per Hillsborough County regulation, according to the inspector. It is because her pool is less than 60" from the back of the house. She just had her pool installed, and the inspector was there for the final. Now, does anyone know if by chance we can do a safety film instead of having new windows put in? The house is roughly 6 months old, pool just went in. Getting ahold of the building department here to ask the question has been a headache. It's like they don't care at all to help. She is extremely pissed at the pool company for failing to mention it also. Thank you in advance. - Brett Smith
