Ladders - and sliding 16 feet to the floor 1 2
by Guest Rama- 11 replies
Hired a new guy. 1st day on the job. He's 16 ft. up, working in a new house, hardwood floor, hasn't been cleaned yet, so some sawdust on the floor. Well...he's a big guy - tall and 230 lbs. Guess what happens? Ladder starts to slide down the wall, and into the window below it, down that till it finally comes to rest in the lower window sill. He frantically tries to grab the upper sill on his downhill slide, leaves some fingerprints on it. So, what ya think happens when 230 lbs go sliding down a wall? Not nearly as much as one might think! We got real lucky with minor damage to the paint and sills - missed the lower glass by 100th of an inch. House is not totally…

How about this shizz The Regional MMM rep came by today he wasn't in town to see us, but to sell one of my car dealers the "new" MMM plotter system for them to tint in-house, and cut me out He was going on about the "new" MMM films and bashing my brand(s) this guy told me: All MMM films and ALL their components are made in-house Said that CP did do the dying process on their Poly in the past (hence the color change) Went on the record to deny that their HP line was made by Slutnek Told me that the Carbon lines I am trying have the dye built into the Adhesive. Said all of the MMM film is extruded, not sputtered or vapor coated The cool thing is , in about a yea…

Hi all I am not sure if this is the correct place for this question so please forgive me if not. I would like to get into this industry (Safety and Security film) and have already done two jobs that I managed to get through friends of the family ? I just registered a company name etc but now that I have finished the two jobs, I don?t have any more. My question to you is how do you guys get the business. I have placed and ad in the paper but it is in the classified section and not many people will see it there. I have tried sending out mailers to the residents around where I had the two jobs. I am now in the process of doing flyers on cars at shopping malls. As for t…

with winter comming (snow up here) one thing I do to protect the cars is keep 3 baskets or milk crates with cheep canvas blankets and bath towels in them. the blankets go over the chairs and the back seat, the towels go on the floorboard and dashboard, radio, ect ( for sunstrips), then customers belongings from seats and door pockets go in to the baskets and back on the shelf. that way you never forget to put their stuff back in the car and you dont track in dirty water when getting in and out of their car.

Getting flat work in the winter. 1 2
by Guest WillTint4$- 19 replies

Here in the Mid-West I do very little tint work in the winter. I dont like to do cars cause they dry sooooo slow and the phone just doesnt ring for flat work. Many of my residential customers go south for the winter and that leaves me with not much work. When the weather is cold and the sun only shines 8-10 hours a day how do those of you in the Mid-west generate work? I dont know if I should work harder to generate winter work or.......should I work like crazy half the year and take the rest off? Any winter suggestions? Thanks, Will

So I'm a Canadian Eh! I've installing flat glass films for 11 years, used god knows how many brands (my old boss changed manf's faster than his drawers) and now that I head up the film dept at my shop I am a dedicated Llumar man. So the other day this guy comes in and tries selling me this S/S film called Glass Sentinal. Gives me this fancy shamcy portfolio and CD-Rom. Okay I'll take a look. So the samples of film he leaves me are 2, 4, 8, 10, 16 mil films. So I start picking these films apart literally. The laminations peel apart easier than that crap DIY film at your hardware store. The CD-Rom has videos about glass becoming bullet-proof with this film , about tempered…

I realize Rita is over for the rest of the world but I got home this weekend to still no power and got to see the mess. The good part of no power was that we have a cold front so it was cool to sleep with no AC... and is very romantic when the sun goes down with candles. I missed you all while cohabiting with five internet addicts. Took all the fun out of it with 10 eyeballs watching behind me anxiously awaiting their turn. I have some pics of what I returned to. This one is the oak that lost the limb back last year. Sheared off at the place where that limb used to be. Won't have to worry about falling limbs no more.

Hey everyone. I am realativly new to tinting. I pretty muchgot the basic of it, but ran into 2 problems. The first air pits. Is that caused by dirt or something? I am pretty sure the window is completly clean. It just seemslike they gater in a general area andi cant get them out. The second is the soap. It left a resadue film like between the glass and the tint. Is it the soap? Please help. Thanks
