335xi review mirror
by Guest Terry@zapmoreconnect.com- 2 replies

Purchased a 2008 335xi used. Sweet! Was in Wrigleyville over the weekend and the review mirror separated from the windshield. Went to dealership and they told me the former owner had an aftermarket windshield installed (presumably for a broken one). They can't attach the mirror. $750 for a BMW windshield plus labor and then cost to connect the mirror - it's not under warranty. Ouch! Should I spend the money for factory parts? Is there something I can use to adhere the mirror unit myself? What would you do? Thanks! t

I recently took delivery of my 2010 X5 in jet black. I wanted to put tint on the front 2 windows so as to match the privacy glass as closely as possible. The rear privacy glass is relatively light, somewhere in the 30-35% range so I decided I would shoot for 35% tint. The real question was what brand. I have used formula one and lumar ATR ch in the past. I know the Formula one would not match, it was very grey, and my new tint shop doesnt tint Llumar. He mostly tints with SolarGard HP ch (a metalized film) he said this would be a sufficient match. Needless to say after waiting 2 weeks for it to completely dry it still does not come close to matching, it is very "me…

BMW E46 3 Series Sedan

I have just tinted a 3 Series E46 Sedan, and the side roll up windows were so curved! Has anyone found these difficult to tint? I tried to heat shrink it, but the fingers were SO BIG that I would just crease the film while shrinking. I don't have too much experience in tinting, but was by far the most curved roll up windows. Has anyone tinted these before? Any tips on very curved side windows?

I am thinking about getting Formula One Pinnacle on my Dark Blue 2007 X5. I currently have the privacy glass on the back. I am hauling around our 4 month old in the back seat, so I was some good protection for him. Here is what I am thinking: Pinnacle 35 for the front Pinnacle 15 over the privacy glass in the rear. So here are my questions: Will the back windows look way too dark in comparison to the front, or will it blend ok? Should I just go with 35 in the back (over the privacy glass)? (heat rejection and glare rejection for the boy is more important than "looking cool", but I still want to be able to see out of the windows). What should I do with the rear …

Ive been tinting BMWs for 6 yrs. All BMWs are easy. 1 series - Push the gasket down and then pop back up when done. 3 series - no tuck or push down on gaskets needed. 5 series - Push the gasket down and pop up when done. 6 series - push the gasket down and pop up when done. 7 series - no tuck or push down on gaskets needed. Ive never fried any electonics on a BMW. These are the easiest cars to tint. Average time on any BMW is 35 - 55 mins depending on if I have to answer the phone. Thank you!

I too just did a new bmw 750. big pain compared to the last model. back light has to come off. not as easy as the 3 and 5. rear doors dont need to be pulled but there is now a shade track about 3" wide that blocks the window, the rubber back there is super tight as well so that didnt help either. all lower rubbers are connected to the sides now. didnt even have time to pull the panel off of the fronts. but it looks really tricky. I tried for 5 minutes then just gave up and tuck styled it. no pics just beware. I was bitchin about it the whole process, and we do a lot of them damn things

Hey guys Ive never tinted a car before but I'm trying to get started. My sister just recently purchased a new 135i and has agreed to let me tint it. Are there any problem areas that you know of with this car? Do I need to felt the gasket so the tint doesn't scratch? And when you open the doors the window automatically goes down about half an inch or so does the matter?

The seals do have felt on them though so what should I do? Will BMW do anything or is their not much I can do?

Got one of these at the weekend, with regards to the small window in the hood, can the hood be stopped in the "halfway" open closed position, without any trouble, most car you can ok, but I came unstuck with a 206cc hard top roof which if you stopped half up half down to instal and clean and turned the ignition off then disable the electric operation, and this wasnt a good place to be in!! Just need to check, also the rear quarter windows can these be raised ok when the hood is folded down? Cheers Guys

these headrest! is there a way to get them out of the way? I have been trying to find a button, at latch, something, and nothing. it wouldnt be that hard to tint the rear glass with them in the way, but I have to remove the old film first.
-
Did one earlier today....done plenty of them, nobody ever really complained about the dot matrix at the bottom of the back window, usually just the top. How the hell are you supposed to get the bottom down flush? Its very tight down there to begin with, is this a deck removal/600 grit for an hour thing or what? I'm going down in a couple days to take a look at everything just to make him happy. Using LLUMAR ATX/30...any help would be appreciated, I dont want to redo it and have it come out the same way.

hi to all the masters~~ I have a bmw x5 coming in tomorrow, and im quite nervous about the back glass.. do they have lots of sh*ts like Ford Escape??? or is it like those jeeps where its just nothing on the window?? any inputs will be appreciated.

Ok , it sounds a bit brutal but the only way to avoid scratches in your tint after the car gets contamination on those evil door rubbers (gaskets) besides felting, is to chop off the entire bottom guide strip. Especially the ones that have the hard plastic guide, just chop it.... If only people knew what we have to do hey!

We have read many threads about covering the "computer" in the back of the 7 series but upon inspection I only see what appears to be a fuse box in an access panel in the trunk on the passenger side. Is fusebox/stupid idea what people suggest be covered?

Right Guys im a panal puller if I can help it. The customer told me his rear door cards are real tight, and I havent had the chance to check them out yet. I know some people pull the top back to get the strips out, but sometimes I find that harder to get the tops of the cards back on after tinting. Does anyone have the info on the fixing points screws etc to remove the rear door cards, ahd a search but not found any good info on fixing points etc? Cheers fellas
