1981 Camaro Z28 1 2

I have a 1981 Camaro Z28 scheduled Monday morning at 9. I looked over this car yesterday and noticed its a crappy rust bucket and completely filthy. The rear window looks like it may be a little tricky too. Anyone done one of these lately?

Have one this weekend, and I know it has the third brake against the glass (I see it all the time cuz every tinter around here cuts em out ) Im just wondering is it standard remove bottom of rear seat (push in and pll up) and then remove back rest part of seat, then possibly the piller trim, then the deck?? I know someone here knows the answer!!! I'd just like to know in advance to speed the process up. btw, its actually a Cutlass but the cuts and mali's from that year are exactly the same car....literally..

Having difficulty heat shrinking Rear Passenger Barn Door. I have about a year experience and I have done many rear windows. However, this one is difficult. The tint keeps creasing. Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas?

Rear Deck of a '97 Cavalier 1 2
by Guest str0ngh01d- 19 replies

Does the rear deck come out, or does the third brake light come out to tint the whole window? The first time I tinted it awhile back, I did it in strips (don't tell anyone) and I cut around the light. It looks ghetto as hell. Trying to be as professional as possible now. A perfectionist...if you will.

help panel pullers
by Guest solarspot- 8 replies

ok first panel ever that I cant figure out how to get off. some of it is I'm real timid about breaking something used my bone to pry the edge back all the way around to see if I could see any of those push clips couldn't see anything. took the reflector out nope nothing there no other place for hidden screws that I see. looks like the panel behind door handle would come off NOPE. so I tinted the windows customer comming back tomm afternoon to get car but I need to get the gasket felted. maybe I'm just being to easy with it but felt like if I messed with it anymore I was gonna break it rather have scratched tint than broken panel thanks in advance

1992 S10
by Guest norman52- 3 replies

I have an 1992 S10 Extended cab pickup that was tinted when it was new. After all these years the tint is starting to show its age and I was wondering if it is an easy job for a shop to remove the old door window tint and install something fresh? I'll pull the door panels for them if that helps. 16 years and 300,000 miles on a tint job has me impressed.

Cadillac Catera
by Guest Katie0530- 2 replies
- 1.1k views
I had my first Catera in the shop the other day and I don't think I've ever got so heated at set of doors before. Dots on front and back of doors. Seals are pretty much on the glass almost no room for any tools. I don't like to do things half ass but I ended up not tucking the film all the way in the front and back but with the dots you could'nt notice gaps. From now on I will probably up the price on this car, unless anyone has easier suggestions.

Had a call for one, even in michigan I still cant find one to check out. They have a nasty curve on the back glass and matrix if I remember right, its a 94. Do the rear doors have little port windows or not? Either way I dread seeing this thing.

question for those of you who have tint on your c5 or c6 vettes

I own both a 2003 c5 and a 2006 c6 series Corvette and I’m thinking about getting the windows tinted. For those of you who have had this done, I’m hoping you can help me figure out some of the logistics. How long did it take? How dark was the applied tint? Thanks for your help!

Not really new topic but anyone have any better solutions for doing a berretta back glass. I was wondering if anchoring in different position than the normal "H" pattern would help any info will be of great assistance ,unlike other post I have been doing this quite awhile and still having trouble!

Ok, I just got done doing one, I have done maybe 7 of them total, late 90's egg shaped back glass with ST Carbon film. Some say they are easy, and for the most part they are, but I am having one problem and am wondering if anyone else has to deal with it and what they do. I usually do a dry shrink first and only shrink the top, then I do a wet check and stretch out the bottom and make my final cut. Then clean and install. But the problem I am have is when I install, the bottom has to be stretched to get it in place, and it usually wont stick at first and I have to let it dry a bit before it will stick, when I do finally get it to stick I end up with small pockets of air t…

I have one coming in tomorrow. The customer just bought his second one of these. He wants to make the tint match the one he had before which he claims was a darker tint. Does anyone know what the difference in tint VLT's between models amounts to? I was guessing that the VLT would be 18% on all of them, but I'm a flat glass guy! If anyone has any knowledge to share I would appreciate it. FB

How are you guys doing the f.strip on the ones with the rain sensor on the glass for auto wipers? I was going to try and take the sensor off and tint it but opted to leave it with no strip on one. Could've cut around the matrix but it wouldn't have looked all that good.

Just wondering how easy it is to tint? I know it has rear struts and vertical defrost. I've seen them in 3 pieces spliced on the corners, are these as easy as the new vette rear windows to shrink? Im not worried about the install or cutting the circles for struts just the shrink, is it a easy 1 piece shrink? Thanks for any input

Got a new z06 coming in, I've done plenty of previous ones. Lengthy shrink process, but is the newest ones any diff? Don't want to underquote, plus I'm always nervous about newer vehicles because of electronics and stuff. Any one have difficulties on this or is it the same. thanks

So I worked at buddies shop yesterday and I had to do an 07 vette in 3m color stable. I know some people complain about this film shrinking but it has never giving me any problemes, until now. This thing took forever to shrink in 1 piece but I got it to lay down and look great. I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. I hope I never have to do that window again in CS. Anyone else had to this vehicle in that film?

Had a friend of a friend bring in a 64 late in the day and thought the rear would be easy to shrink but after wasting a ton of film, I finally had to throw in the towl cause it was getting late. He is going to drop it off again next week so besides the nasty old rubber seals, any trix to the rear window? Should I just two piece it? Thanks

3 screws and the panel pops right off. (1 behind the handle, 2 in the armrest) And the slider is a cake-walk because of the 1inch borders all the way around. A tinter's kind of truck. And the True Grey 35 matches up pretty damn well with the factory quarters.

06 Equinox
by Guest Soultinter- 8 replies

What do all of you do with the equinox and most new GM's in general with that funky weatherstripping around the window channel. On many of the the rubber is pretty soft and is just a slight inconvenience but on some, like the Equinox, the rubber is hard and cant slide tint in there so I am forced to cut tint so it only goes in a little and there are no light gaps but from the outside it looks like crap. Know what I mean ?
