These are about as easy as they get....The rubber seals that surround the side glasses pull out just like the impala. On the front and rear panels there is a molding on one side that appears to be in the way, but the seals easily slide out and in from behind this molding w/o pulling the panel.

2 door Cobalt installers. Step inside. 1 2 3 4

Did a 2 door cobalt yesterday for the first time. Used EFW True black in 20% all around, and I used the single anchor across the center a little higher than the middle. Left the top and bottom long to do the pull method, and I also used Elmers clear school glue on the dots for the first time. I think every thing came out decent except for a few small fingers at the bottom of the glass that wouldn't go away, I think I shrank the tint to it's max and it wasn't shrinking anymore. Also on the pass side, after I cut the nub for the defroster a horizontal finger appeared. This one would lay down but kept coming back. And with the glue... I installed film like normal, hard carde…

I have several customers (in a vette club) that want their targa tops tinted. What do you guys use? Some have tried the static cling tint with poor results stating it will fall off in high temp days and actually shrink. Some have purchased the cling preformed vynil but that is more like a window wrap material with the small holes and doesnt block enough heat. Any suggestions?

This week was pretty cool! Not very often does a shop get a chance to get some pics like these. We had a very good customers brand new ZL1 that I went to the dealer and picked up for him while he was out of town. Did Huper Optik Ceramic 40 on the entire car and Ceramic 70 on windshield. Also did Clearshield paint protection on it as well. Well this week, the ZL1 is still sitting here and yesterday another customer dropped off his Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible to have us tint. So I just had to throw them both out front and shoot some pics for our website. The ZL1 is a bad ass car to drive with a sound…

Watched our paint protection trainer tint an 07 Z06 yesterday. Did the dryer sheet on the back, no H pattern, no U pattern, he just made a small circle in the middle of the glass and shrunk from there. There was no lifting and pulling of any sort, and he did it in 17 minutes, totally going to change the way that I try it, from what I always read on here. this way was way faster I believe.

This back glass is bioctch and imo can only be done easly with llumar, suntek or Johnsons. Even if you can get it done, its so stressful shrinking a film that needs to be pulled, lifted, and fingers need to be split. Just way too much efffor. BTW, Im in between choosing Llumar or Johnsons over suntek. Somone please tell me which shrinks faster/better.

Did a 2009 today and it was a joy to tint. Although I had the top down and did the rollups first, than when I put the top up all the windows rolled down. Gladly nothing peeled up,off,or back. Back glass was popcorn and I was cleaning windows in less than two hours. (fast for me). Lesson learned, do back glass first , than do rollups :>)

I know this is old news but, screw the guy who designed the rear headrests on the Impalas. The rest of those cars are soooo easy and then you get to the back. He must have stock in the chiropractic industry.

2012 camero issue
by Guest Flatbowdad- 2 replies

I tinted a 2012 convertable two weeks ago at a dealership and yesterday I went back to do more work and the camero was on the showroom floor with the top down and the windows up. Low and behold im looking at the quarter glasses and they have about a half inch of glass showing around the edges and my front doors hace a micro edge like I like to have. The manager walks by and I said I needed to redo the quarter windows and he says what for they look great.( Dealer work is great). I told him why and he said ok, if you want to. Anyway I realise the quarter windows need to be tinted with the top down to get that micro edge. Do you guys or gals see any problems with pealing or …

I just did one yesterday , fairly simple ride . All panel pullers will be a little mad at the new design though , still fairly easy . Front doors have 3 10 mm bolts , one behind door latch and 2 under door pull . also the door lock knob has a little cover that pops out and whole panel is clipped on . Rear doors same principle as fronts , p/s quarter has antenna made on it but is simple to cut around . Rear hatch is simple and easy one piece , I see down the road problems with the design as all the hardware is glued on the glass . The front windshield is a little tricky , around the mirror it has a deep matrix . A new wire cover and some type of round device with wires go…

Just killed one today. Very easy I thought but I might have just got lucky. I left the dealership with the doors cracked open with the latches tricked to keep the windows in the up position. It is in the sun all day and they are going to pull it in the shop tonight. Do you think it would be save to unlatch the doors and let the doors retract that 1/2 inch and attempt to shut the doors. Thanks, Keith

I am not having a problem tinting this vehicle its the drivers side window very bottom corner keeps lifting up. I have locked the windows in the up positon and have provided a lot of heat and drying time. They still come back within a couple days with the window peeling from the bottom. Please help as I have one in the garage now.

Did my first Vette today. Owner told me 1 shop said it was too hard, another was booked ahead for a month, and he had a "reputable mobile tinter" come by earlier this week, worked on it for 2 hours and gave up without laying any tint on the inside whatsoever. Overall I didn't think it was too bad, seamed on first defroster and 3 pieced it (didn't even try one piece, probably should have) Removed struts and latch and let them dry pretty good before putting them back on. Hey guys, Quick question and you can flame me if you want but how else will I know if I dont ask. Do you guys prefer 1 ply or 2? I tinted the back glass of a 97 camaro yesterday and was using my EWF true black 2 ply film. Not sure why but I could not get the film to stretch like I wanted. After trying to manipulate the film for a while I gave up and broke out some old 1 ply suntek film I had and it seemed to be easier to stretch on the glass. I know were talking 2 different thicknesses and films but do you guys think thats a thickness issue or a film issue? I really like working with the EWF but this was my first time to tackle a camaro window with it and it just wasnt w…

I am tinting a 2007 cobalt side windows, and I am having trouble with the sides wrinkling where I fold back the film and peel the bottom half of the liner. The seals on this and a few others have seemed really tight and keep becoming an issue. Am I peeling the bottom in the wrong direction, creating a wrinkle or I am just doing this wrong. I Searched these forums last night along with you tube for info and tips on doing a 99 vette back glass because I had my first C5 vette booked in today. Got some useful info and managed to pull it off today, did a one piece on my first shot. Took me about an hour. Customer was super happy.

Trailblazer back glass

I went through 9 pages of chevy car topics on here and nobody has posted anything about this window, so I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong. Just can't seem to get it shrunk very well. I'm using the dry method (bar soap) and an H pattern with solargard HP smoke film. The bottom corners seem to be just too much for me. I'm pretty new to the dry method and back glass in general, although I've successfully shrunk a 01 taurus and 99 town car among a couple other easy back ones, Just can't get this one after 3 attempts. Any tips?

antenna piece broke off on 06 impala back glass.. help!!
by Guest benski- 5 replies
- 2.1k views
i was going to clean the back glass on a 06 impala, and i went to pull the black wire that is attached to the back glass off ( i assume that is for the radio ) and the nipple that is supposed to seperate, and stay on the back glass broke off and pulled off with the wire attachment... is there a way to get this attached back to the back glass? i assume there is some kind of repair kit that will make a good connection so the radio will have good reception... any pointers will be greatly appreciated

Not bad for a film rep huh? SolarGard Ultra Performance 10 - Nano Ceramic = Thick film and a challenge to shrink on this car. Used a tip suggested by a friend. Worked like a charm! Just pull on the tabs and shrink away.

Looking for the Gill stipes in various forms. I have solid ones already, but customers are asking for the "transformer"? version... basically the outline of the gill edge, not the inlay of the gill. Any help would be appreciated. I dont feel like patterning these again.
