I am attempting my first Camaro back glass today. It's a 92 w/o defrost, just looking for some pointers on how I should shrink the backglass on this car. Where should I anchor and any suggestions/pointers overall would be a great help. Thanks!

Tinted a new body style extended cab today. pretty easy. The front roll ups are familiar to the previous body style but the extended cab windows are now roll ups instead of stationary glass now. All roll ups are surrounded by rubber gaskets and not felt. back window is similar to the previous model truck, it had defrost lines on it.

Same as the 06. Very easy to tint. Side seals pull right out and can be re-installed without haveing to roll the windows down.

I did an 05' Malibu Friday , door panels are cake to r&r . Front panels have two push pins on outer edge , plastic cover behind door pull with two torx screws , speaker panel pops out and slides up , door latch is a little tight , small ,flat screwdriver makes short work of it , rubber seals slide right out . Rear door same as front only minus speaker panel . Rear glass goes in easy one piece and lays smooth over dot matrix border , no matrix at the top . hooray !

How dark is too dark? '02 Electron Blue Z06 Chrome OEM wheels 1 2
by Guest rifeman- 11 replies

I'm getting ready to tint my Z06, but I really don't know what brand name to choose, how dark the tint should be, and how much I should expect to pay. So far I've looked at 1) Llumar's High Performance Charcoal Film ATR 30 CH SR HPR and ATR 35 CH SR HPR (I'm not sure what the letters mean, but I think the number means it allows 30 and 35 percent visible light in) 2) Formula 1's Ultimate Series 28 and 38. I want the tint to afford me some privacy (like if someone looked in, they couldn't recognize my face) but I don't want it to be so dark that it becomes a hassle at night when backing up. I'm in the military, so I'll be moving from state to state quite frequently…

So I did a 2006 Impala today, man is that thing hard to tint! I mean the roll downs have huge gaskets! Back window is easy though. Any tips on an easier install on the side would be greatly appreciated. All I can say is use lots of soap in your slip on the roll downs.

I havent been in the field long, but this is what I have learned when it comes to doing a backglass in a late model Corvette. 1. Use the M-Dizzles Soap technique.....I find this works best and helps keep areas that were shurnk from poping up and releasing from the glass.. 2. Before I take it to the back glass for shrinking. I trim it on my board (computer cut) and leave 2-3 inchs extra all the way around it...This will help move stuff around and avoid shrinking to much in one area..I feel that it alse seems to add some relief to the tint as well...but thats just something maybe I am dreaming up... 3. Anchor your tint in the typicall H pattern...Normally I will fold a …

Hi guys, I have the "chance" to tint one of these trucks and am going to get to see it tomorrow. I just wanted to see if anyone has messed with one..... this is supposed to be a show truck and the guy wants all the windows done including the windshield. I have found some pics of the truck that show the WS and I just really doubt that I am even going to try that curved mess...but the rest of the truck???

So the other day at work in rolls a brand new Z06...Its the first one I have ever got a chance to tint. Did the back window in one piece...Took about half the day...But thanks to the soap method I was able to do it...I dont think I could have other wise...Now the customer didnt pay for this little extra, but I went ahead and filed the edges of the front windows down so there was no light line...Am I weird or does anyone else do this on high end cars that have frameless windows? The windows turned out awesome..I was thinking about offering this as a new service to cars that have framless windows..anyways I am rambling on and was just curious if anyone else has heard of o…

Gonna be tinting a 2000 Cavalier Coupe Z24 in the near future and was just wondering what I should be looking out for as far as door seals... are they really tight? Do I need to shrink the windows at the top? I know there is some curvature to the back glass, but I'm not scared of that, just want to make sure I don't run into any stupid mistakes from little details on the car.

The seals look like they can be pulled but the customer was right there so I opted not to. All in all super easy truck for x:thumb

Just tinted one today. There's three either T20 or T25 (don't remember exactly) torx bits, two in the little door handle/armrest thing and then one behind the door handle. Take those three out, pull the panel back, and the gasket pulls out all the way around the window. Easy money.

Hello everyone! I recently purchased a 2006 Chevy Impala LS and I wanted to know if my tint percentage ratio from the back to the front would be alright. For the back windows I am having done 5% limo tint. For the front windows I am having done 30%. Do you think this will look alright. Oh yeah and the color of my car is Silverstone Metallic. Thanks in advance! Matt

73 Monte Rear Window
by Guest ssarver- 2 replies

Hi guys, was hoping you could help me out. I'm trying to tint the back glass of a 73 monte carlo. This window is quite "curved' and has a seem going right down the middle of the window. When I lay a 48' piece of tint over the window (so I can do one piece) using the dry method, there is a huge finger that goes the whole length of the window. there is no where I can "separate' it so I can shrink from either top or bottom. So I try hitting the middle of the finger with the gun, it shrinks and I end of getting creases in the tint every time. does this window need to be be done via the two piece method? I know years ago I had a monte and paid someone and I remember a…

Just retinted a 2004 Corvette. Used a plastic scrubby pad to scrub very little glue that was left on back glass. Didn't notice it when I was tinting it but it came back and there was scratched all over. Needless to say I'm replacing the glass now and it cost $3,400. I talked to the body man that is replacing it and he said that the glass is not made of glass. He said that it will scratch very easy. Wish I would have known that before.

just a heads up..they can be a pain in the arse..un like the impala..the window trim does not come out..but they are just like like the impala..as they seals go way in..almost impossible to to tuck these bastards without fuking up your film on the sides I would recommend taking the panels off and doing these but the back window is not too difficult

Rear Window on Chevy Silverado 1piece glass
by Guest firststrike- 3 replies

2000 Silverado Ext 4th door with solid rear window. Putting 35% on top of the stock 20% security glass would, if my math is correct, be the equivelant of 7%. There are no defrost or ceramic dots that I can see. I'm an amateur and would like to try to do this myself, I'm an auto enthusiast and want to try my hand. I'm at college, I have plenty of time on my hands on my off days. I realize going through a professional would be easier and most likely cost effective, but I want to try it. Paladin's did great work on my front driver and passenger side window's but I am no longer in Houston. Are there any special instructions for the rear 4th door windows and the large ba…
