Hi, am a customer looking for knowledgeable feedback on a problem. We had ceramic tint by a very well reviewed local guy, he said “it’s guaranteed” yet the windshield film remains wavy/distorted after 3 months of giving it a chance to “cure”. We just wanted heat rejection so it’s the lightest tint available, were told “no one will even realize it’s there.” The distortion looks like the mirage effect like when it’s super hot on road. But it’s all the time, whole window. No issues with the darker side tints. We reached out to him asking what could be done and were surprised to hear resistance in his voice, he said he’d call the company to see if they w…

Hi all, New here so please excuse me if this isn't the right forum topic. Had tint done about a week ago and am trying to figure out if I need one of my windows redone. There appears to be bubbling/streaking in one corner of a window. I know that bubbling is normal and usually goes away but this is pretty noticable and hasn't gotten better each day I've checked. See attached photo— the bubbling is on the top left side of the window you see. Should I ask for a redo or wait longer? Thanks!

Okay all you smart people, help. I wish we had Smarty2shoes back. Let me start by saying I don't have all the information on how this person is measuring heat, but here's the situation. Customer calls and says that he's wanting some limo tint for the outside of his RV. I tell him that it won't last that way and he says he knows that, he is trying to replace what he has already put on. I ask him why he doesn't just put in on the inside and he says that it works better on the outside. He says he had it on the inside, took it off and put it on the outside. He says that it is 12° to 15° cooler when done this way rather than putting on the insid…

Hello Everyone. I purchased brand new in box of Global Window Films 5% residential mirror tint. I used roughly 3 ft of the 100 ft roll on my sliding patio doors and was told my HOA will not allow tint. Box now has roughly 97 ft of brand new residential tint that is 5 ft wide X 97 ft long. I have attached pictures of the tint and also a picture of what I paid for it. Just looking to get most of what I paid for it. Pick up or drop off available if local. Will not ship due to size and weight. I am located on the LA/OC border of Southern California. Make me an honest offer.

Just had this done a couple of days ago, and parked the car in the garage as soon as I got home to sit a few days while it cures. Set it and forget it so no chances of ruining the other freshly tinted windows down.😎 Anyway, my installer is closed today, and tomorrow, and I had a question. When I dropped my car off, I had a suction cup style phone mount(that I freaking love) installed on my non tinted windshield in the lower left corner right above my new inspection sticker which he was able to salvage💪🏻, and next to my steering wheel at about eye level. I forgot all about it until today because my installer pulled it off before he tinted my windshield, and threw it in my …

I received my Rivian R1T and am raring to have it tinted. But the shop that did my Volvo XC60 said something about not having the right cutter. Can folks recommend a shop that’s in the SF Bay Area (I'm on the Peninsula but willing to drive)? I like the specs of the Spectra Photosync, but the only shop I can find in the area that applies it is booked through October. I’m also keen on Xpel Prime XR+, Global QDP Ceramic, or Huper Optic. Would greatly appreciate shop/film suggestions, thank you.

I just got a new car and I went to a reputable tint shop with moderately good yelp reviews. I got my tint done about Tuesday last week in the Bay area. The weather has been sunny with an average of 80 outside. However, I've noticed some bubbles that won't go away. Some of these bubbles are just a single bubble here, none are grouped together. Some of the bubbles have a small dot or speck/dust in the middle. Will these go away? Or will the dust/speck just cause the bubble to remain? Should I take it back to the shop? Will take pictures later today.

I have a brand new roll of Air 80 - 24" and it's a full roll. Still has the factory tape and it's in the bag. Make me an offer on this. I don't believe I can make use of it at my shop. I generally go with 36-in which covers most windshields. That's 200 ft² of film. If you can use it make me an offer! Best Regards Stewart/ SunShades Glass Tinting Alpharetta, GA. 678-463-2361

Hey all, I got my windows tinted on my 21 Jetta at a reputable shop in my area and they used XPEL Prime CS all the way around. After I got home, I noticed they didn’t clean them 100% after they finished as there were a couple of water marks from the slip solution they used so I cleaned them up. I use tint safe Invisible Glass as a cleaner with new microfiber towels. After cleaning, I realized I put some pretty big scratches along the bottom of all four of the side windows. I know they weren’t the ones to put these scratches, they were not there before I cleaned them. Luckily my shop understood and re-did the four side windows for me. It’s been a few days since they have r…

Hello everyone. This is my first time posting, but I have used TintDude as a resource for years. Just wondering if anyone is still using a Copam plotter. I bought this CP-3500 from USCutter about 10 years ago and it still works great for cutting vinyl. I have also used it in the past for cutting tint patterns and it did a fine job. If I remember right it was TintTek 20/20 software. The problem now is I don't know which software is compatible because the Copam brand is not listed anymore. On Tuesday I will call some companies to see if there is a generic driver that will work, but figured I would post in here to see if anyone have some helpful information. Thanks!

Hey guys, never thought I’d be on a tint forum but here I am. Got tint done on a brand new Camry and the back window had bubbles. The guy at the shop when I brought it back said the whole job was done terribly so he would redo all the windows for free. So I was satisfied and left with them to redo. Come back to pick it up, get home and notice a scratch. Look inside and you can see they scratched off the black coating off the inside of the window. Also maybe you can enlighten me but they left a mess. I was told it just water and they don’t clean because people don’t like chemicals being used on their car. But if it’s just water why couldn’t you clean up your mess.…

Thinking of opening a tint shop, but have a few things kind of working against me. 1 - Never tinted anything in my life. But I have really strong marketing skills and I know I can bring in business. 2 - Not sure how to hire someone who would tint and run the shop. Problem here is that the employee/manager could steal, not show up on time, quit etc... So are there any absentee tint shop owners in here? How did you go about setting all this up? Thanks

Customer states that the gps is no longer working after tinting his car. He also said his car will not connect to his home wifi. We did not tint the windshield. So wondering whats up or maybe the problem was already there and just happened the day after we tinted his car. Does anyone have info. I have never had this happen, the car is also out of warranty for this. Also the wifi antenna is located in the mirrors. So I don't understand how that happened as well. I guess I just wait and see the outcome. I talked to another shop that has done hundreds of these car and he's never had it happen to him. I guess the only way to make sure your not buying some …

Hello everyone, just wanted to ask I ran into a problem when tinting my new decking, there is some white marks that has formed in between the tint and the glass. I’m not sure what I did wrong or why this is causing it as I clean the glass properly? Is it because the glass is still not clean enough? Is it because of contaminated water? Or is it the solution that I’m using that is causing it? im currently using Llumar N1050 film and for the solution I’m using X100 from Llumar. any help or advice would be much appreciated. kind regards

How risky would it be to put Llumar Stratos 50 on a tempered single pane glass slider door? There is a screen door on the outside as well. Spec sheet says stratos 50 has 47% solar absorption. Ceramic 45 and 35 of the Vista line have 52% and 62% solar absorption, respectively. If the ceramic vista series works for flat glass, wouldn't this mean that - from a pane heating perspective, the Stratos should be at no greater risk of breaking the glass than those Vista ceramic tints?

I got my new Jettas windshield tinted with Clear comfort 70% Ceramic and there's a strong lens effect. I can't get it on camera but it looks like tons of diagonal lines, not visible, but they're like a lens that bend what you're looking at like lane lines. It hurts my eyes. It's strongest at the bottom. Is this the brand or installer or normal? Should I try a removal and try a different brand and installer?

I just did a basic research about the car tint type. Most of the website gives a tint level as DYED tint is at the very basic level, then Metallized and the Carbon tint, and the Ceramic tint is the best. I also found some of the tint website said the Carbon Color Stable tint is a superior grade of the entry-level DYED tint. My question is the Carbon Color Stable tint the same as the Carbon tint? If so, the Carbon Tint is actually a kind of high level Dyed tint. Am I right? SunTek has Carbon and Carbon XP for car tint. What does the XP mean? Is that a next generation of the Carbon tint? Really appreciate to help me

I’m pretty new to tinting and when I’m heating out the fingers if I heat the edge for more then just a couple seconds my finger turns into a little triangle at the very edge that won’t go away. I’m assuming this is the film being burnt but it doesn't curl or go crisp or anything just looking for some info. Thanks

hey guys I’ve got a bit of a art project going and I’m wondering if its possible to somehow tint a very curved surface. Ive made a helmet with a clear semi spherical plexiglass visor pretty much exactly the same as this one here: Is it possible to tint such a curved surface somehow? Ive tinted a visor which only bent along one axis without any problems before, but this one obviously curves on both axises making a spherical shape, keep in mind im a complete newbie when it comes to tinting. any advise would be great

Less than 24 hrs after I picked up my Model 3 I had a local shop do my tint with 35% Ceramic Global film and 1 piece back window. This place has 300+ 5 star reviews and owned by a husband a wife team (the husband does the tint while the wife does the fro t desk stuff). A few weeks after after the job, I noticed small bubbles which looks like from dust /hair. The back window had about 30+ of these, while the side windows had 2-3 each. I brought it back and asked the owner about it and his response was “no tint job is perfect and that’s normal” he gave me a plastic squeegee and said “you can use this and try to get the bubbles out (first big red flag). I’m thinking, “I’ll l…

Hey guys! I began my adventure of window tinting yesterday evening. However, when I came to sliding the film into the side and bottom gaskets, I ran into an issue. As seen in the picture, the door panel rises and sits about 2" above the seal as you approach the side mirror. It makes it rather difficult to tuck the film into the bottom and side gaskets without creasing the film (even with using the uz reach). I tried to tuck the film without the need to remove the door panel, but with no success. Would you guys recommend me to pull the panel or is there a technique you'd recommend without the need to pull the panel. I've seen many say that this is one of the m…

I recently had llumar atr applied to my gs300 after having whatever the original owner had applied likely when new stripped. I had to take the car back once as the back glass had some residual adhesive leftover and I had a light gap and a couple excessive spots on the front roll ups. The younger kid at the shop did the initial install the first time and I dealt with the owner when getting the front two roll ups and back glass redone. He took care of it no issues, but I couldn't help but feel like I was annoying him. I was very happy with the redo and I understand a few specs here and there are normal. A week after the reinstall I notice this weird hazy lighte…
