I have 2 cars, one with 35% dyed film, one with 35% ceramic film. Both cars are parked outside 24/7. Both cars are equally hot, and with the sun shining through the side windows, I don't feel any crispier in my dyed film car. I just don't feel any significant difference. Anyone disagree?

$1300 tint job - windshield looks like this.., 1 2

Had a Lamborghini Aventador tinted this week at Modern Image in San Diego. Two side windows and the front windshield. They charged me over $1300 for the job. On each side of the windshield I’m seeing these things. I assume this is not done properly? It’s been 3-4 days and they haven’t changed at all. https://imgur.com/a/aOrIpFR

Hey People great site, have been a visitor for a while and have now decided to chime in. I have 2 stint stores in Chattanooga, Tn. and a third location under construction in our local dodge /chrysler dealership. I need to vent to some fellow tinters and get your opinion on an issue we have with Suntek Films. First let me say that this is not a knock against their films, their films are good films. The issue lies on how they do business, let me explain: We are a 3M dealer and use Suntek as our 2nd value priced line. We hooked up with Suntek 2 years ago and was told that even though they do not offer exclusive territories that if we did business with them that they woul…

Rear window haze

Anyone know if tint will produce a haze and flake silver particles. I was washing my back window that is tinted and the filmy haze was so hard to get off that I had to scrub with water and when I looked at my rag it was metal flakes. The tint is not damaged. But would a metallic tint flake like that? Like I said the tint has no damage or any fading.

I'm looking for some insight. A local dealership took in an X7 on trade that is tinted with what appears to be an almost clear film. Damage on one window that needs replaced. Ceramic I'm sure but much lighter than the 70% I have. It does have a very light blue hue to it. Does this film sound familiar to anyone? Thank you

Question for tint shops: when you get a customer asking, why is it cheaper to tint the full vehicle than it is to tint each window separately, what do yo tell them? also when they want their whole windshield tinted, and they ask why is it as close to the price of tinting a full vehicle when it is just one window, what do you tell them?

FormulaOne Stratos for discount but no warranty. Should I pass?
by Guest Farmerpabs- 2 replies

Hi All, I've been lurking around here for a while and learning a lot so I appreciate this forum and all its members. I'm currently looking to get some feedback from those who have FormulaOne tints. Will there ever be a need to claim warranty? How risky is it to get a discount but not have warranty? I found a reputable shop that works with LLumar CTX. Shop owner was able to get enough sample of FormulaOne Stratos for my hatchback. He's willing to put Stratos on my car for the price of CTX which is $290. The catch is that it's not covered by any warranty. Should I go with Stratos without warranty or pass? Thanks …

Creases in corners
by Guest 205tinter- 5 replies
- 1.2k views
I have been tinting for a little over a year and 6 months. Ive gotten rear and front windshields down pack but im not happy with the way i was taught to do side windows. We don’t generally remove door panels and I was taught to create a wedge in the corners but i consistently crease the corners where the wedge is formed, I would like to take my quality to the next level by avoiding said creases. How do i tuck into corners without creasing the film? Please link any videos showing methods of avoiding these creases. Thank a lot.

What is your magic number on difficult installs? What is the number of times you will attempt a difficult install before you are upside down in it and are losing money? Had a C6 the other day that was dealing me fits. Attempted the back glass 3 times and had to call it quits. I still wasn't sure the 4th time was going to work and I had other appointments for the day that had to be done. So I had to make the decision to stop and not do that vehicle. At some point, even if you complete the install, you have to realize that you are not making money on that install. So when do you call it quits to keep from burning up all your prod…

I have an appointment this week to get my 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring in Sonic Gray Pearl paint protected, ceramic coated, and window tinted. The shop carries F1 Stratos 70, 50, 35, and 15, among others but I want to go with Stratos. The stock glass on the car is ~70 VLT, and possibly 75-85 VLT on front windshield when I compare against windows rolled down. The interior is black with white/grey ceiling. I'm not sure what the factory tint on the sunroof is, but I plan on tinting sunroof too. My priorities ranked: 1. Aesthetics (either sleek dark smooth transition or a deep all around classy look) 2. Tint Performance (heat rejection, glare reduction, night…

No way around it…they suck. So relieved to not do them anymore. I’ll just let my comp do these, and I’ll just schedule more full vehicles. Plus, 90% of people want them on Trucks and Teslas…no thanks!

Water bubbles/fluids

So uhm, this was my second attempt. Should have used a lot more babyshampoo I guess. I didn't squeege the fluid out properly, somehow I didn't notice all the bubbles untill later in the day. It doesn't look soapy, just mostty water. Any chance that the hot sun is gonna make it dry out or this a lost cause? Thanks.

I recently put some storage containers in my SUV and when I unloaded them l found and killed two adult female black widows. Since then my dogs have each been bitten as have I. Them in the back seat and I on the hand, neck, shoulder, and foot ( I was driving in flip flops). I feel the bites start to burn before I get where I’m going, confirming their presence in my SUV. I have Llumar tint, 15% on all glass but the sunroof and windshield. The back glass has an almost imperceivable nick, other than all windows are perfect. I would like to use a chlorine bomb, or three, to kill the spiders but I’m afraid this would damage the tint in a major way. I can’t use a bug bomb b…

Hey Tint Dudes, We just started getting into exterior installations, and on one of our first installs we encountered bubbling around the edges on a couple pieces (pic below). This was a rooftop skylight job, and we sealed the pieces with caulk a couple days after install. The material we used was Avery Dennison: R Skylite 20. The bubbling didn't occur until 3 months after the install. Has anyone encountered anything similar? Does anyone have any potential solutions or any advice, in general, when it comes to exterior installs?

The cooler is a great tool to keep your food fresh longer for picnics and pool parties. But once you’re done with the activities, you are too exhausted to even remember about the cooler. That’s how the poor thing develops an unpleasant smell over time. And one day when you pick the cooler up again, it is already in such a bad condition that you can’t store food inside. So here is how to get smell out of cooler in very easy to use steps you can do right away. How to remove bad smells from your cooler Step 1: Let the air out naturally After throwing out all the rotten things you left forgotten inside the cooler, open the lid to let the ai…

Windshield tint gone wrong? 1 2

Hello everyone. I'm hoping to get opinions from tint professionals. We recently had our windshield tinted with Xpel ceramic, on a brand new 2021 truck. We just noticed these scratches going near the cowl line across the entire windshield on the outside. It will catch your nail in many places. It seems to track the shape of the bottom of the windshield and we can't think of anything else that would do this the entire length (maybe factory defect?) We know they form windshield tint on the outside before transferring to install on the inside.. Do y'all think these scratches are from the tint application and cutting? Thanks in advance. http…

I know nothing more about films than they are, well, films and they go on windows! So... we just moved to Phoenix and have some serious heat coming in the south ans west windows despite them being relatively new (2007) double pane IGUs. We're wanting to put some film on them to, predominantly, cut down the heat in summer. We've had 2 quotes so far and the pricing is all over. Here's the figures and products thus far (includes film, prep and tax): 8 windows - approx sizes (H x W): 1x 72" x 72" 2x 72" x 17" 2x 48" x 60" 5x 48" x 24" (these 5 are 15' off the floor give or take) Suntek - either IDS20 Bronxe or DRDS 15 - $885.00 Panorama Hilite 70 or 40 - $…

Hi all, I did try a few searches and the results were so far off the topic, didn't really see any related topics. I am new here, and very new to tinting. I have done only 2 cars so far... practicing before I do my own new truck this weekend. I do plan to get more local customers, friends, etc. as I did get a few rolls and need to recover my costs. On the roll up/down windows. I have done one with a frame and one car was a frameless window. On the frameless one, i went with a file / shaved edge instead of a 1/8" gap. I REALLY like the look and it turned out great ( first time too ). What my question is on durability…

Really wanting to start doing a 1-4 cars a day depending on model. Worked for about 5yrs a an installer. Did a little PPF and vinyl as well I'm interested to get back in and looking to find someone to assist me with some guidance. Looking at possibly getting with a manufacturer. I'd considered trying some precut kits but I don't feel like those kits are that trust worthy especially after using different types of software. Feel free to roast but would like to thank anyone in advance. I was active on this forum back when I was actively working as installer for an EX friend.... 🤣 TIA

Tinting a home with pond (water) and mountain views w/ windows facing southwest. Summer late afternoon sun glare is strong (water is to low to reflect into windows). Heat on a few southern most windows are intense so will use darker tint for these since as visuals are not as important as the ones I need recommendations for. What do you all recommend to get the best combo of (somewhat in this priority order)... 1. daytime visual clarity 2. glare reduction 3. low Internal reflectivity at night (looking out at night is important) 4. IR heat reduction 5. high VLT considering SunTek ULVDS, opinions on this or better alternatives…

Has anyone ever heard of Premium Tech Window Films?

I’m looking at a few different tint places near me and there’s one that has amazing reviews. They use Premium Tech Window Films and are one of the best rated shops near me. I’ve previously used XPEL Prime XR Plus, but moved and looking for a new shop. There are companies that use brands I recognize, but don’t have the greatest reviews (they have a lot of reviews - but not the highest quality). Any feedback on this brand? As I’m looking to do their Ceramic option.
