We have lost an incredible person this past weekend. Noah was a designer for us here at PROFORM and he had a passion for what he did. He loved seeing his paint protection kits come to life and his passion shined through on every design he created not only for us here at PROFORM but for all of you guys who use the PROFORM kits everyday. The reason for this post is to help get Noah back home to his family in Hawaii and also to help cover funeral costs. I have setup a gofundme account for his family. www.gofundme.com/noahjimenez Tintdude if this post is inappropriate let me know. I just thought given this is a community of people within our industry it would…

Was just wondering if anyone has ever used Solaris paint protection film ? I tried it a while ago and it was like working with cardboard . I believe this type of film requires more heat source to manipulate the film to conform around edges. Also was very difficult removing it after only a week or so. Was primarily using this film in an attempt to learn.

Hello all, I've done lots of PPF installs with precut kits and have hand cut many patterns on cars as well. I'm leaning towards hand cutting more and more as customers want to cover areas that are not cost affective to pay for precuts or they want protection for something that doesn't have a pattern (bicycles). Any advice for hand cutting techniques (grease pen or other) what is your method?

I try to install a piece of paint protection film on the hood and the adhesive lines/marks showed up when I try to move the film on the paint. Or this can be happened on the front bumper, where the film needs to be stretched. I am using 3-4 drops shampoo with water as slip. Any suggestions for preventing this happen in the future. Is that because the adhesive too tacky. Remember using Suntek couple month ago ( same slip ) and didn't had problem as this, only 2-3 adhesive lines on the whole job. However, this time the defects shows a lot of places. Does suntek has a different adhesive than other brands ?

Yes I searched and for a few debated that the film got discontinued or something like that then they re made it back in 2013. just curious, is it still not that great of a product or has it improved at all? Only reason why I'm asking is I found a supplier for some tint and this is the ppf they are offering. currently I use Suntek and I love it.

Hey everyone, I just did a bunch of ppf on a 13 F150 and I have done everything from cleaning the whole truck to keeping the entire shop spotless and I still ended up with these super noticeable white specs in almost every piece I did. I would appreciate any suggestions to prevent more dust from getting near when applying the film cause I have a hood to do yet and I can't afford to have anything in it.

So I have my own small tinting and audio shop. I'm a one man show and I do want to learn how to do paint protection. I'm a very good learner and pick things up quickly. I was planning on getting a plotter so want to make the most of it. Is there a place I can go for training or is it something someone can pick up with tinting skills? I have over 8 years experience tinting. And any recommendations on good brands. Any info would help. Thanks.

So I bought a bottle of this stuff and the seal was broken. Is it normal for this stuff to have a smell to it? Almost like a bleach or windex type of smell. Should I get a new bottle with a fresh seal or am I just paranoid?

I have front protection on my car with an Xpel pro wrap, but having recently almost scratched the bumper, I've decided to get the rest of the car wrapped as well. Would anyone here had a recommendation for a good installer in the Bay Area? I really like Elite auto films shop, but their price for wrapping the rest of the car was 4X what I paid just for the front. I don't want to cheap out and get the worst and cheapest installer out there, but don't think I want to pay 4X for a nice shop. I live in the city and would prefer dropping it off close by, but if not I'm willing to drive to a remote location in the Bay Area as well so long as it comes well recommen…

So I'm looking for an installer to help me out. My sister just bought a new Infiniti QX60 in white and wants PPF installed on the normal areas. Hood, fenders, bumper, mirrors and luggage area. I would normally do this for her but since she's 6 hours from me here in the Chicago area I'd like to find an installer to help me out and do the install. This way she won't have to drive all this way just to get the PPF installed down here and with her busy schedule with kids and what not, I thought I could give a fellow TD some business and help my sister and myself out. Send me a PM if are willing to help out!

Decided to redo the PPF on my hood today after I showed someone what I do and having to explain why it looked like . Looks as thought the PPF shrunk, all that black is old adhesive. and a quick after shot. I went up a little higher just because I can. the edge is right in the middle of the light reflection. No idea what was removed but PremiumShield was installed

Greetings; Our paint protection film business activity began in 2007 and since then we have used various suppliers. As installers, we are very often asked by other installers – “What type of film do you prefer in your work and what kind of film can you recommend to us?”. To determine what type of film is best suited for our work we decided to create a few topics, each of them accompanied by a small test. The reason why we posted these topics is because Internet has no reliable and independent information regarding these topics. We say the information is independent, because we didn’t give any preference to one or another manufacturer, and we are not an official repres…

Hey Everyone, I have 2 questions/issues. 1. I'm taking the front headlights off, but in order to do so I need to take the front bumper off. Has anyone done a front bumper that was off the car with bulk? 2. I'm wrapping the edges on the front hood and I'm not sure if I should go beyond the first weld. There's maybe 3 millimeters between the weld under the hood and the edge of the hood. Is that enough surface area to wrap the edges and have them stay put? Thanks.

Did a 2013 Lexus GS350 clearbra the other day. Customer is really nice, but he came in today and said he now notices a wind noise coming from the driver mirror?? Took it to the dealership and they told him to take the clearbra off the mirror and that fixes it. Customer also said he checked out the Lexus forums and there is a huge debate about this very issue. He did read that someone posted that they had replaced the mirror and the noise went away. Sounds like garbage to me and that Lexus is blaming the aftermarket AGAIN. Has anyone come across this? Thanks in advance. Dan Carmeltint.com

Hello everyone, Been reading this forum for several months and finally decided to join. The window tint conversations on this site have been, not only informative, but also fairly entertaining and its good to see the interchanging of helpful info. that helps the entire industry to thrive. THANK YOU! Anyway, I just heard that 3M is no longer the choice of PPF for the US inventory of Toyota. Toyota is one of our biggest accounts and it would be nice if someone could confirm this and also if it is true, what film are they using? Occasionally, we are asked to add more protection to a new vehicle that already has hood and fenders. Any help would be appreciated. …

DAP in the uk 1 2

I have just started using the Xpel UKs DAP demo, as I have had some good reports from fellow UK installers, and found the few kits that I have used to be really very good and was about ready to sign up when I had I had an Audi RS3 in for a full ppf wrap and another to do in the new year. The customer was good enough to let me have the car for quite an extended period if needed as I had expected I would have to design the kit for the car but I checked the DAP and saw that although the full kit was available for the S3 Sedan only the front clip and sills (rocker covers...) were available for the RS3 hatch back. I called Xpel UK and offered them the chance to come and templa…

Jeff you may be able to help in this, but what is the reason for the extreme amount of stretch in the f150 hood kit? I can't figure out how to install the pattern in DAP. I've just resorted to making the kit bigger, installing it and trimming the entire front edge and sides. Can xpel make a tac diagram for this? I've tried coast to coast, centre tac, I can't get it down without stretch marks and pressure points.
