PPF Training 1 2

Hello, i have been thinking about getting into PPF., for the past six years, the only two things that kept me from getting into it was, Space, my shop is literally 700 square feet, and also the lack of demand, as i live in a city/town of 70k people. I will be moving into a bigger shop in August, early September, the new shop is 2100 sq ft., and i have noticed more and more people are starting to ask if we do PPF., Which leads me to believe that "NOW" there is a market for it, and if people are asking for it without any advertising, then its time to start offering it.I know this for fact, i do not want to carry mmm, my friend had his Nissan SUV done in Sacramento by a repu…

Lines in PPF 1 2

Hey I'm looking for a little install advice. I use XPEL film with the install gel. On 2 separate installs now I have had horizontal lines left in the hood. I squeegee that direction so I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or what. I have been installing for awhile and this is the first it has happened. What makes me think it's not a squeegee issue is on the fender if you look closely in the light there is also lines that look almost like a road map. My customer is understandably not pleased with this. I am reinstalling tomorrow and just wanted some ideas on what everyone thinks is happening. The defect doesn't seem to be in my roll of film because one was cut on 2…

Hi, I am wondering if anyone here have a term and condition for PPF and Wraps that I can see. We make everyone sign one for window tint, ppf, and wraps service, but I feel that our term and condition is weak for ppf and wraps. The bottom is the one I got here for window tint. Drying time: Your new window film will take about 3 to 5 days to fully dry, sometimes a lot longer depending on film brand, type, and weather conditions. Until this time your tinted windows may appear hazy or lumpy, and it may seem to have water bubbles. Do not roll your tinted windows down until dry! Cleaning Window film may be cleaned with a soft clean cloth and…

How can I get this trouble area to stay adhered? I can work it /press it down smooth, yet is lifts back up to this (see photo). Will a stronger mix of alcohol/water do it? Or some add adhesive? It is the only 1"-2" section on an entire hood that is otherwise perfect....don't want to do over again....it is on my car.

We've had many problems with Suntek's ppf department. Not the ppf itself. Their department frequently forgets to include pieces from the kits we order or they come in bad shape (creases, exposed and partially peeled pieces) unusable. So we are looking for a different company and product. Anybody use Solar gard's yet? We're looking for feedback on a mani's pre-cut patterns and film itself. We like how Xpel's installs and the patterns are great, but they're ridiculous expensive. Who do you guy's like?

Did not like this at all. Weak Adhesive and ripped super easy. If you use too much alcohol it curls and loses all adhesive, almost turns into a over priced saran wrap. The clarity seemed fine on a pearl white car, a little orange peely, I could live with that if it actually stuck to the paint. Used Rapid Prep and a Clay bar to prep. Have 2.5 hours into this ting after it tore on the hood. will not be stocking this

Anyone know who's making film for Mazda? No self healing or even scratch resistant and discoloring considered normal especially on white.

Hi All, After having cars peppered with rocks over the years, I am looking to have Paint Protection Film installed on my new car! The only installer in the area uses Hexis Bodyfence with it being a 2hour drive to someone that uses anything else. Problem is, I cant find much reviews or info on Hexise Bodyfence so thought id ask the experts. Cant seem to find anything on it here to, which leads me to believe its not the greatest product around: - Anyone used it and can comment on the quality? - What is its stance in the Paint Protection Marketplace? - If it isn't great quality, why would they be installing it instead of offering something better? And depe…

Hey all! 1st post here. i am a proud new owner of a 2016 VW GTI 4 Door, 6 Speed Manual, PP, DCC in the DC/NOVA area. I really enjoy the car so far especially with the DCC on the rough DC roads. Torque puts a smile on my face every time! So, i am staying ahead of the curve and immediately got a clear bra or Paint Protection Film put on my car. I did a bunch of research and decided to get PremiumShield Elite (i did a bunch of research on XPEL, Sunteck, etc.) Just got the car done today, now it still needs time to settle in (water bubbles need to work themselves out). But there are a few spots that i believe are "not perfect" and its giving me a bit of anxiety. So my ques…

Looking for any tips on installing XPEL Ultimate on a replacement/repainted front bumper. One of the higher end shops in the area did the work, it's an OE replacement bumper so complete repaint and it's been over a month now. I've done hood and fender replacements on repainted panels but first repainted bumper cover... Been using XPEL 2.0 install gel and curious if that is ideal for this type of install or would a soap solution offer any benefits? Not sure I want to experiment at this stage on the bumper but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask for some suggestions! Thanks.

Last month my fees were throught he roof at over 1000 bucks and now I have added trucut to save some of that money in the bank. But, what are other options in order to reduce the costs?

Shop is not climate controlled. What are some tips you guys have? Cutting and trimming was a botch, the film was rubbery. Weeding was a paint 10 min after it sat in the shop, which had to be 95 degrees today. Edges wouldn't go down very easy, even with letting them sit. As I said, rubbery feel to the film and very stretchy. Suntek film

Just removed a full hood on a 14 Lexus with pearl paint. Customer said film had discolored but the discoloration seems to be in the "flop" of the paint with a section that has a greenish hue the rest of the hood doesn't have. The problem is where the adhesive was left behind left what looks like worm trails in the clear coat. You can't feel them but you can see them from the right angle. Never had this before and wondered if anyone has seen this or an idea what may have caused it. Customer picking up car with no film on hood to take back to Lexus so see what they can do but I have no clue what happened. Hoping it was a flaw in the original paint but will have to wai…

Ok so I'm using Suntek Paint Protection and today I did a 2012 GL-550. I didn't have the kit so most of it I had to handcut. The hood took me forever and I found it difficult to install. It came out good but I'm worried about it lifting up. I did probond the edge but I was still having issues. Can someone give me some pointers if I have to redo it? This was the trouble spot I was working with. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

This was a conversation in the tint section. This is Smartys reply about using dish detergent ..Was wondering what peoples thoughts are to the PPF adhesive? Glycerin is similar to silicone only through its ability to 'also' inhibit (or interfere with) long term bonding on adhesives used in window films. Not in the same ways, though. Glycerin does it through its ability to attract moisture, so residuals of glycerin trapped under the film will continue to attract moisture (through the film to the adhesive) with a resulting affect being a more most adhesive environment. Much the same as high humidity's affect on film adhesive's longevity. The higher the glycerin conte…

It's been a while now since the Suntek, Llumar merger. Rumors floated around that the new lulu PPF was just going to be Suntek with a different adhesive. Does anyone use the Llumar film that can give any input? Or anyone have any info on it?

Just getting into this, and I've always had confidence in 3M products. But not anymore with Scotchgard after reading a little around here. My impression is that Suntech is clearer, but the fact is that Xpel has the long warranty so I guess we'll go with that. My own car is black, and I want to give it a tuxedo, like this: But I don't want a lighter gray like this, I want a darker brushed metal, like 3M's Brushed Steel. But again, after reading about 3M on this forum maybe there's a better brand. I think this Arlon looks great, except I want it in darker silver: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/the-official-vinyl-wrap-color-thread.58703/page-2#post…

For you PPF guys. Have any of you used this yet? I've used the knifeless tape for vinyl but saw this and thought I ask you experts about it. I'm not a PPF guy but this would make a lot of guys probably want to try it. You can find the video on Knifeless Tapes website under videos in the top left corner. Justin Pate narrates the video. I couldn't get it to link to the post for some reason. Give me your impressions of it.

Searched for this and couldn't find much. Don't have any experience with carbon fiber so I'm just wondering if the PPF will adhere to the porous underside of a carbon fiber hood. Paint on this one only goes roughly 1/16-1/8 of an inch into underside. I don't want it to lift and definitely don't want to get my knife closer than 1/4 inch from the car.

I tested with car hood and after sunshine in the afternoon, discover there is something looks like bubble but not exactly bubble. Is there anyone has same issue? The card hood had spray paint just few days ago, couldn’t figure out why is like that. Does anyone know if the issue with paint or the PPF? Really appreciate for all replies

Hi all, I want to ask you about using a cutting plotter to cut the foil/ppf for the cars. is it useful ? or using hand cutting is better? I have heard that plotters will give exact size which will not allow the worker to fold it inside the groves. and what is the best software to be used for ppf cutting ?

I have never used a plotter since I always did bulk installs but its time to buy a plotter. Are the Jaguar's a decent plotter or should I just spend the money on a Graphtec? It is for a small shop only doing about 1 install per day. I have searched and it has been talked about a little but most of the treads are old so I was hoping to get some advice.
