I have been advised the new Hydrophobic LLumar film is being launched any time in the UK. I have a new car Matt paint Lamborghini SV roadster and would have previously used excel Stealth ppf with a gtechniq hydrophobic coating but now thinking about holding off to April for this new product. Is this the best option? considering templates, timing and product options? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello all, long time lurker, first time poster. Been installing ppf for about 2yrs now for a local dealership in southern Alberta. Pretty happy doing it and have been told by clients that I'm quite good at it (dealership owners and retail repeat customers). Problem is, where I work only pays hourly, (and not flat rate), meaning the better and quicker the installs have become, the less I actually make per job. I want to go it alone with a shop and mobile unit, but have been told that the place where I am will make it extremely difficult for me to pickup local dealers/existing customers. I'm the only one doing ppf for them in a relatively small city, so if I were to leave, …

Hi all, Did auto detailing ages ago; never did PPF, but I've had two cars done up with XPEL and it looked decent. Read some good reviews on SunTek, and decided to try it after seeing it on a couple of cars. Had mine done at a local respected installer (attaching picture links), and I'm not sure whether I should be ticked-off or not, but I think so. They were installing on a 2010 Camaro SS, which has a large bumper that is perhaps somewhat harder to install on. They left a few 'loose' edges, a four-inch-long 'lip' near the license plates, and quite a few small air bubbles. The installed tells me these will disappear, but my XPEL never had any - not this many. T…

Ok guys, So Ive been a xpel dealer for 10 yrs. I was the only dealer in my area. a month or so I looked at the dealer Locator on xpels site to update info. I was the only one listed. now I see the other shop that is listed now. He advertises as a 3m dealer. He has been in the shop for a yr or so. I have fixed numerous installs from unhappy customers.. The owner has also came to me to have me do a bumper on a Mercedes..Black and the bumper was an easy 5-600 to do it. I was in the middle of a bumper wrap when he stopped in. I told him I wasn't able to do it and gave him a price for just the bumper.. He looked at me like I was crazy.. Pretty…

BMW owner had his car plastidipped "not with the cheap stuff" and wants to clearbra the front bumper. It has an oddball bumper and neither Xpel nor computercut offer a kit so it must be bulked. What is your opinion on any issues that may arise and warranty? Client requests Xpel. Sounds like a disaster in the waiting, but I don't have much experience with this new "not the cheap stuff" plastidip.

This is bothering me again. I am an Xpel dealer in Hangzhou China, and the head of Xpel Chinese distributor - ET Mr. Li Yang keeps telling me this TiTan Pro is made by Xpel ? I just want to get a solid response from this forum. If this product is produced by Xpel, I will keep using it, otherwise, I will stop using any kind of Xpel product. Because this is totally a BS marketing of reboxing some Korean product and sell under Xpel name by Xpel Chinese distributor . Titan Pro was introduced by ET in China since August last year, now everyone thought this is the top line from Xpel. ET are selling thousands of "TITAN-Pro" per month to its distributor including us. On the…

Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of installing Suntek PPF on my 1994 Acura NSX, I'm going slowly and have spent the past few months working on it on and off, and now I completely understand the high prices on the installations. Overall though I've mostly gotten the hang of it, but so far I've only done flat-ish panels. I'm about to tackle the bumpers but before I risk ruining $50 worth of film on it I figured I'd ask your advice. If you were doing a bulk install, how would you attempt this bumper? My initial thoughts are as follows. (keep in mind the section that I'm wrapping here stops at that horizontal line where the quarter panel ends, I've already wrapped t…

I'm sure I could ask my rep but I also figured I'd get some input. So I'm going with Xpel for paint protection from now on, getting DAP and won't be ordering kits anymore. What roll sizes would you suggest initially always having on the shelf to be able to tackle most jobs. I'll mostly be doing partial hoods and front bumpers, plus impact zones. I don't forsee doing many full hoods anytime soon and would just order large rolls when the demand is there. Thanks for any input guys!

Curious on how people set their pricing. Square footage? Packages for set price? Right now we have packages for pricing so customers have quick idea on price and then modify if needed based on the car/truck. We use Xpel Ultimate film- full hood, fender, bumper, and mirrors would be around 1250$ Which takes me around 4-6 hrs. Too much ? Thanks

My car is a 2017 Mazda CX9 and i notice one of the side have a corner that is messed up vs the otherside that looks clean. I took it back to the shop and he said it the way the car curve and they he check the otherside which is good, says they need to slice it open to install it better. I was thinking to myself then why didn't you do it on this side. He said he would cut a piece out and do some patch work on it. but is that standard practice or they should be redoing it?

Hello, I've been stalking for awhile but I did a job today and have some questions. I've been tinting a loooong time and have dabbled in PPF, just slightly, as I am a one man show and also a Paintless Dent Tech. One of the body shops I work with has started having me do their small PPF jobs (factory stone guard, door edges, handle pockets etc) but now I am running into more work with larger pieces on the hoods etc. Today, I did a 18" hood and wrapped the edges like the customer had initially. The car "had to go in an hour" and since I knew I would need it to tack well for the wrap. I mixed my slip solution with very little agent and it was prett…

Paint protection films offer far more durability than vinyl wraps, but a clear bra is just that. CLEAR! STEK DYNOmatt will transform the original paint into a matte finish. Matte finish films have had an issue in the past that they can be more difficult to clean due to their coarse finish. We have raised the bar by infusing a nano-coating into the film during the manufacturing process making it not only easy to clean, but very hydrophobic as well. If you have a project coming in and need some matte ppf please give us a call. Thank you, Howard STEK-USA 425.623.3973

Hi Everybody, I wanted to introduce myself and our company to you. My name is Mark Legere and our company is Chip Guard Custom Designs Inc. Starting my PPF career with some training with SolarGard soon. Have always treated me very good great people to work with! Portland is a tech place.....home to Intell, Nike and more simiconductor manufactures to name that employees make great money and drive high end cars. SolarGard MAKES THEIR OWN quality product and has a great support network. Nike world headquarters is around three miles from my shop. Feeling excited to work again with the fantastic crew from SolarGard ! Cheers Stan * I edited my original post because I try very hard to be positive in my life and don't need my own negative feelings affecting others.

Hey guys, I'm going to have a PPF service for the customers and I have heard some painter said even the car with original paint, the lacquer will peel off with the PPF when removing it, so customers asking if this product is for protecting the paint but what is the point to install it if it will damage the paint at last? Or you guys have some proper techniques like using steamer or anything good for this? Also if customer's car with repainted panel then is not recommend them to do it?

I'm currently using ComputerCut for our PPF patterns. Who's pattern database has full fenders, full hoods and maybe even full rear bumper patterns? We had a 2017 BMW 750i come in from body shop that needed the rear entire bumper redone after paint work and it was a computer cut pattern from somewhere. I'd like to expand to a better database.

I'm about to purchase a 60" plotter for cutting PPF/tint and vinyl, but before I pull the trigger, I'm wondering what everyone's experience has been with the ones I'm deciding between. Roland GX, Mutoh VC, Graphtec FC, or Jaguar V. I've been cutting with Roland for years now, and I'm happy with Roland GX series plotters, but don't want to limited my potential because I'm 'comfortable' using them. So what are you guys using and why did you choose it?

I haven't been doing PPF for the last few years, but the wife's car got some hail damage and needed some new paint. We had planned on CQuartz and PPF in the past, but then a fender got damaged and never got around to it. Now that everything is fixed, we are going to get it taken care of before she starts driving. It's over at the detailer's shop now getting CQuartz coated and like a dummy, I didn't think to see if the coating might affect the install of the PPF until I watched some of the videos and they were showing the hydrophobic properties. I did some searching and saw XPEL recommended not applying over coating, but other searches saying it wouldn't cause a proble…

Has anyone experienced manufacturing defects with Suntek? I know from time to time I should expect some minor flaws here and there as they pump out a ton of this stuff on a regular basis and that there is no such thing as a 100% flawless sheet of film. I have been using Suntek for the past seven months and never had a single issue until recently. I have had rolls where the adhesive wouldn't stick even after sitting for three hours, dust nibs in the top layer and rolls with 6-8" wide heavily hazed lines running the length of the roll that could not be remedied with heat. This has happened to six rolls in the past two months. Suntek has replaced the defective rolls,…

I just bought a brand new 2017 Honda Civic EX (Modern Steel Metallic color) and I would like to put a clear bra on it. I am considering either 3M Scotchguard Clear Bra (3 times more expensive) or the ebay China-made Vinyl wrap. I would like to know your guys' opinions on whether the ebay vinyl wrap should be safe on car paint and which type of clear bra or clear vinyl wrap I should go with. I would like to wrap the most important parts of my car in it (front, sides, and rear). I am not sure how much to invest on clear bra. I probably don't need a 2k clear bra job done on a 20k car, but I also do not want to damage the original paint or cause more trouble. I just wa…

Hi, newbie to this forum, hello everybody. I have a problem. I would like to use some Llumars' ppf to very common car, Kia Cee'd. The dealer says patterns doesn't exist in Llumars program, but they should appear to there "soon". They told me this 2 weeks ago. New Cee'd was published about one year ago. Well, what makes it difficult for me to understand is the case of new Kia Optima State Wagon. It was published 2 months ago and Llumar dealer says they have all ppf formulas for this Optima though it was published only 2 months ago? How can this be? They have been selling Kia Cee'd about one year and no formulas at all yet to this model? I am pretty newbie for this busin…
