...........My buddys 95 Eplorer has funky rear glass. It has a factory smoked tint to it. Im dunno what it is, or what it's for really...but it gives off almost a silver-bluish hue, not black like most SUV's. This is like a lexus SUV. You veteran tinterz should know exactly what Im talkin bout. My question is: Is it safe to use a heat gun on this glass?? And..will it look goofy if I put tint over that??? Will you still see the silver-hue'ness??

tinted one last month they live up a dirt road and had me out to look at it on monday. it kind of looks like the F-250's outside windows only this was on the inside. I told them to go to a ford dealer and have them put felt on the gaskets and see if they would re-tint the roll ups for free, I'm sure I'll be called back to re-tint the doors, and I already told her there would be a charge.

hey guys, im a newbie to the whole tinting and I was hoping if anyone here could help me on getting the tint off my 94 tbird. it was all bubbled up, and I was planning on putting sum new tint on there so my father and I decided to try and get it off ourselves. I had read some of the intructions on how to remove it from this site, but my dad started without me making it to late to get it off at once. now we have a buncha little peices on the rear windsheild and was hopin someone on this board could give me some advice on how to get the pieces off. we got some of them off but I do believe that we've already destroyed the defrosters. I know I would be much better off just h…

ford 3/4 ton front window

ok you guys I need to know something. I've been tinting for about 3 months. and am fixing to tint my first ford 3/4 ton. what I was wondering is how do I cut the tint for the bottom of the front windows? it drops 2 or 3 inches in the front and I'm not sure about it. is the glass straight at the bottom or is it the same shape as the door? if the glass is straight all the way at the bottom then I shouldn't have to make a cut right?

Tint on 2005 Expedition 1 2

I just got my 2005 Expedition XLT Sport Tinted yesterday with Suntek Carbon 18% front two windows and than installed Suntek Carbon 35% on the factory tint all around. This truck looks GREAT considering that it is all black with very dark windows. Now a question I have is what % is the factory tint on this SUV? Also, by installed 35% over the factory tint, what would be the formula to figure out what the true % is. I know you would not just take 35% + (lets us 20% as factory) 20% = 55% divided by 2 = 22.5%. Just wondering, if anyone can advise, I'd appreciate it.

I priced one today for $150 and the guy said "ok thanks" hung up. I called him back and said oh is that a two door? and he said I got another price already for $90!! Does this car only take like 15 mins to tint or what? I've never done one but thats the only excuse I can come up with to justify $90 and thats a sh***y one at best.

To the pros I have 1 of these coming in today Question 1 : I've read on the other posts that they are plastic gaskets ...will this scratch the tint like the Rams (I'm assuming so...or has your experience showed you otherwise that it won't) Question 2 : the windows I herd go down a bit when opened...can you "trick them" like other cars that do this by flipping door latch with a screw driver? thanx for any insight

I did one of these today for the first time in a few years. I forgot how much fun the dots on it were. Does Ford friggin' use teflon on their dots??? Its not bad enough the back window wanted to curl off.. or all the dots across the top.. but the damn rear side glass too. I HATE these cars. Thank god it was hot out today. I let it sit outside for a 1/2 hour, went out and rubbed all the dots down and threw some vinyl on the top dots. Came out really nice.. but holy aggravation. Thank god these cars are few and far between.

hey everyone I just joined, and also just got interested in tinting. I decided to remove my previous 50% tint on a ford ranger and put on 20% on the front roll-ups. I tried about 3 times and am still unhappy about 3 tries and 30 bucks later. the main problem seems to be the curl of the film which makes peeling the adhesive from the plastic while trying to fight the curl and preventing from sticking on itself. I just used a basic squegee, spray bottle, and hard card and had lots of troubles the first time. What I have on now was the best attempt, but, the corners flipped, had some crinkles and bubbles, and the edges dont look so hot. Seems like everything went wrong …

ok, this things can be tricky if you dont know what you doing. has all the typical screws around the panels and underneath, as soon as you get to the arm rest there are two tyniest lil screws probably a size 1mm or 2mm, but I didnt take them out coudnt find the damn size for it, just remove the front screws and sides, pop it back, take out the rubber and bam that's it, now the gasket/rubber is felted, but half way, yup that's right, for those of you who felt, its got the double rubber thing and bottom one is felted and top is not. what the hell, other than that is cake.

I did the back glass first thank Goodness. Windows roll all the way down automatically when you hit the button to lower the top. Front and back. The fronts are also those that vent or drop down a hair bit when you open the door. On the older ones I would raise the top back up (close it)when I got finished tinting the sides to nearly closed and let it dry like that a while and so I could see the back glass and it would drain better. Not on the 05. They'll do it again when you raise the top back up so let them sides dry good before moving the top.

I have tinted several 05 mustangs and have had two come back with scratches on the drivers side door. They are in the exact same place on both vehicles. I was just wondering if anyone has had any trouble with this. I have also seen the same scratches on several other mustangs that were done elsewhere.

Anyone ever pull the panels to discover that a torx bit will let you roll them down. This is a cheap model f-150 with manual windows, all the hardware is in the door, but no handle is present to roll it down anyone out there have a way to add the handle, my customer is interested. there is no stud for the handle, just a torx screw head that I can turn, and the window can be manually moved Please help, thanks. Im sure its been mentioned before but I couldn't find anything

Now what was wrong with the door panels on the Ford trucks? They were very nice... two screws and the panel pulls right off. Now, you have to remove the speaker too. There are five screws (not including the speaker), two behind the handle, one behind the window control panel, and two at the very bottom. Four more speaker screws, and not only that, you have to remove the compression clips that the two bottom speaker screws are screwed into... then, finally, the panels pulls up and off like they used to. I think it took me five times longer to remove these panels than the previous version. I don't get the point of this drastic change in design... I have never seen on…

Has those same windows like a BMW and Mercedes that drop down 1/2 inch. I closed the latches (two clicks) to fake it out as usual on the doors. But when I finished and tried to open them back up it would only pop back open half way when lifting the handle. Second click just wouldn't go. Tight as a drum. Finally, after fussing with it, I happened to pick up on the door handle again at the same time as I was using a tiny screwdriver to pry it back open all the way and it miraculously flipped open with ease. Usually don't have to do that. 03's weren't so stubborn. Cute little car even if it is a Ford. Red. Just like is going to be in the 007 movie. Sure did get a l…

Ford Fiesta....NO MATRIX.....Helppppppppppp 1 2
by Guest Alfa 156- 13 replies

Hi all. Can you guys throw a little light on this one please. All the cars I have worked on so far have had a substantial Matrix around the edge , thus giving that small margin for none surgical cuts to be passable. This Saturday I have a Ford Fiesta to do and it seems that the glass goes straight to the rubber with no matrix at all. Is there a fool proof way of making these cuts accurate, cos' I can imagine small light gaps all over the place. Thanks in advance. Alfa 156.
